Nobody is Listening

You talk about things you have no experience with. Your lived experience is reading other peoples' writings while working as a mindless grunt for somebody else. You've never actually done anything interesting or creative. You've never taken actual risks. Travelling or eating food is not as interesting as you think it is. You've never done anything that anybody can't do with disposable income. You don't even get that there are things you need to experience that you can't pay someone else for.

There is no barrier to entry for reading. There is no barrier to entry for listening to music. There is no barrier to entry for talking about what you read or what you listen to. There is a barrier to entry for making things people read or listen to. That's why you don't make anything worth anything. You don't pass the most basic barrier to entry to being above average. You're not even human. You're just a black hole of time and energy. You've never done anything interesting and you never will. You're a complete fraud, and everyone who isn't a fraud can tell.

You're the collector of things. You are defined by what you have around you. You have nothing inside you. You are nobody, nothing, and will never be anything. There is nothing interesting about you. There will never be anything interesting about you. Anything you know can be easily learned by one internet search and fifteen minutes of reading. You stay in the shallow end of reality because you lack any ability to do anything productive or abstracted enough to actually mold reality instead of being molded by it. That's why nobody is listening to you, and whenever you venture outside of being a conduit for other peoples' ideas you get made fun of. You're nothing but an inferior version of Wikipedia.

Hey Tryp, I know you did not make this personal to you or anyone else,

but I would love to speak to you and share our thoughts on your topic--and I suspect it will veer to the personal--

if you would be interested. Time is in short supply for both.

Spoken like a pleb who's never left the states. Even your distaste towards the novelty of food is a classic Ohioan backlash versus it's gluttony practices.

Humankind is predisposed to seek out novelty, hence why there's a half-life (for most people) when it comes to appreciating what was once 'new and interesting', and if their skillset is geared around something like culture or cooking then they're more liable to get something out of it than some rando doing the same trip.

I've found travel to be extremely eye opening for offering frames of comparison. Without it I'd be stuck within a purely 'murrican way of thinking, rather than seeing issues that plague our country that are swept under the rug (like our F.D.A. practices).

There is no barrier to entry for reading. There is no barrier to entry for listening to music. There is no barrier to entry for talking about what you read or what you listen to.

There is a barrier to entry for appreciation however, which is what allows for communicating it with other people to be more than bragging. The exchange of information allows for comparison, which in turn allows for something that much closer to an objective view in lieu of a solipsist one.

There is a barrier to entry for making things people read or listen to. That's why you don't make anything worth anything. You don't pass the most basic barrier to entry to being above average. Imposter Syndrome..?

Black Pill..?

How interesting people seem is entirely relative. If who you're speaking with is boring you, there's something about you that can't stand them that someone else may be able to wholeheartedly appreciate.

Yeah I would rather speak than type out a response

The writing indeed isn't directed at anyone particular here. It's a simple diatribe that rallies against some of the vectors of consumerist culture and the vapid elements of the "cultured" type. The main focus wasn't as much a desire to communicate a distaste as it was to produce an invective, because I find that style of writing both funny and generally more interesting.

That being said, the "cultured and worldly" type is indeed a boring one that flaunts the patina of high taste, immersion in the foreign, and esoteric knowledge as a symbol of status or elevated awareness. They're like the "intellectuals" who name drop Sartre or Hegel to direct your attention to the ivory tower.

Could it be the case that in some way it serves to direct away from a certain someone?

Not my intention, but I can't help much how something is received once it's out there.

So you'd rather tout your asceticism?
