I had some time to consider what you said, Turncoat, and I think you may be right. I'd intuitively say that the long-term effects of firing toxic people will be good, because you can start building a company culture. However, I agree with you that the risks may be too great if they see it as unjust, and firing those people to have a clean start might be difficult -- it may even take a while to get a new customer space.
So I likely should've said that I would fire junkies at McDonalds, but only if I could get away with it and was convinced that it wouldn't bring down morale. So perhaps I was wrong here. I would still not work with junkies, but perhaps firing them can be counter-productive in certain scenarios.
User333 show me statistics of junkies @ US McDonalds. I'm pretty certain you're trolling but I legit laughed at the "fancy McDonald's in Denmark." I'm not from Denmark, don't live anywhere near Denmark, and they're far from fancy.
Chapo, start answering my questions instead of avoiding them or fuck off:
Chapo, why do you keep repeating that I couldn't do your boss' job, when I've said multiple times that that I probably couldn't?
Also, why is it good if a supervisor is a bottleneck in the workplace?
To reply to your assertions, I do not believe I am dreaded because I whip people to work. I've had a few people transfer to my group because I am critical of people's work. A supervisor's not supposed to be your friend.
Why do you call my workplace a shithole, when you don't even know where I work? I'm pretty sure I work at a significantly better place than you do.
Did she really swear at me for a reason? How do you know that? I mean, unless you meant shit reasons, I've no fucking clue how you could possibly infer that.
Let me give you a bit more context. I drove this student's rights to give a presentation at that conference. I didn't need to do that, and I'm the only person here who goes to the degree I do to help my students, because I want them to have a good career. Now, her presentation was cancelled because they flooded the agenda, which is completely beyond my control. She was swearing at me and blaming me for scheduling a presentation for her that got cancelled, despite the fact that I explained that it was out of my control; her response to that was that "I should have known it would be cancelled." I had said earlier (via e-mail) that I can move the talk to the next conference two weeks later (also work on my part) in case she wanted to give that talk there, which she childishly refused to show me how angry she is. Lol. Stop being a simp. She deserved getting her next presentations cancelled and getting shit tasks for 3 weeks. Now her behavior is already much better.
You're making all sorts of value judgements without understanding a thing. You have no idea where I work, what I do, or who I work with, but you're like uber-confident that you're right, whilst being utterly clueless in reality.
