I HATE conflict. It literally hurts me physically. I already have anxiety, so conflict makes the air thicker and the walls closer together. It makes me lash out because I want it to stop, but usually it forces me to solve people’s problems because even when they aren’t talking, there is tension that is painful to me. I like having discussions because there is no emotion in it, so it’s just a form of learning.

Can you describe the physical sensations that you feel when you receive conflict in more detail?

Peace is apathy, and apathy is death. Worse than death, because at least a rotting corpse feeds the beasts and insects.

It is fun to watch and listen to—a bit of a guilty pleasure that I usually have to hide. But personally being involved in conflict in the physical realm? Deescalation not only gives you less to worry about; it also gives you more to work with.
