the internet is toxic

convince me otherwise, i'll wait.

i know this is sort of a cliche, like all those other 'woke' people ranting about 'put the smart phone down' and 'social media is lies' and blah blah blah.

but i'm talking about, the internet as a whole. like, maybe i'm just in a mood.

but, i feel like everything, is so corrupted by people, and people's toxicity.

people rise to fame, and then they're *slandered* by millions, because of the fact they're 'influencers' or famous.

it's like you can't win, unless you play the game, and you play the system, and you learn how it works. and you're essentially just manipulating it, cashing in, and then get the fuck out.

riding it all the way up like a stock. it's just a game.

we're not new to the concept of, 'the algorithm' and how it can be manipulated- nor are we unaware of 'youtube plants' and 'fake drama channels' etc.

here is an example of what social media view counts, is creating.

this show accidentally created a viral sensation by casting a girl now unfortunately known, as fish girl.

in an effort to replicate the fame and views, and money they received from this viral meme, they decided to do it again, with another episode of the same show- but this time, with a man in overalls being called, 'mario man'

they are capitalizing on ridicule culture. in this example.

child exploitation is a thing. a lot of people are forgetting that this is a child and she is only 18. have you ever wondered who's running the show? and letting this child ruin her life? I wouldn't consider her life ruined, but Daniel said it herself in her vocal quote in this video. Paraphrasing here, that she is now, unemployable. This is the markings of narcissistic abuse, where the goal of the abuser is to 'trap' you into their control by any means possible- isolating you from growing outside them and experiencing an independent life from them, while they suck the life, and resources, out of you- or live vicariously through you.

Of course this is only speculation based on a few emotional teenage rants, as any child has about their parent, and wanting to move out, etc. Is it just usual teenager-parent dynamic going on here though, or is there more to the story? Are we just bored and spinning this up for no reason?

OR- *did they plant this seed of drama on purpose* to ratchet up the view count. Regardless, this could be a prime example of child exploitation- and unfortunately, Daniel Brigoli, is not the only one.

TikTok is also no exception- and I've noticed that explicit content somehow gets pushed into the stratosphere of viral view counts while regular videos are less likely. A teenage girl posts content that is alluding to sexual phrases, or is about intimacy- and it receives 3x the views of their normal content.

someone who has talked extensively about it is, a wonderful woman who goes by the name "Smokey Glow" on youtube, with a social work degree.

the issue of family vloggers is huge, there's countless family vloggers now who've been 'cancelled' by the internet at wide for doing absolutely insane things with their children- going as far as adopting a child, and then, RETURNING IT after they made their money.

they applaud as she completely degrades herself without shame, as a woman.

she, and many other woman know the age old trick- seen on social media on all platforms, and in hollywood, capitalizing on their good looks and sexual appeal- to cash in, essentially.

she plays the role they want to see.

this is what toxic culture creates, is women who degrade themselves for money.

this creates the illusion for women that if they just degrade themselves enough, for a man in a position of power, that they will get what they want- and leads to them being exploited, used.

it happens in film and TV, it happens on social media, it happens everywhere.

That shit only matters to the people caught up in it. Use the Internet for fun, not misery.

" i feel like everything, is so corrupted by people, and people's toxicity." -me 2 seconds ago

lol i'm aware it's the people and what they bring to the table that makes the internet what it is... it's the case outside the internet of course too

thats why i said, 'maybe i'm just in a mood' tho because like, i dont' feel this way all the time but every now and then it occurs to me and i'm just like, 'damn, everythings really fucked up'
