i watched the movie Synchronic last night and, let me just say without spoiling it.

They managed to take an incredibly cool concept like time travel, and made it *as depressing* and *sad* as possible.

The writing was not only cheesy and predictable, but I feel like the film really missed the mark over all and could of been something incredibly iconic like "enter the void" sort of vibes, in the indie film genre.

it started out really interesting, the way the cinematogrpahy was, it was very, unique and, artistic. i was curious to see where they went with it. but by the halfway point it seemed like they stopped putting as much effort into that aspect of it.

at first i was like "woah this is really different. this is art." and it could of like, progressed down into that more and gotten really wild (like enter the void did) sort of...experimental. and that would of made it iconic.

i wanted to see them kick it up a knotch with that weird vibe they were going for with the weird camera angles and strange audio. it made it feel like you were in a dream or an acid trip.

but then it didn't *progress* you know what i mean. it needs to get *more trippy*

like c'mon, you're talking about time travel, and a guy with an altered pineal gland, and substance induced time travel- at that. this could get so wild.

i would of liked to see the time traveling episodes as well be a bit more.... i dunno. they looked sort of theatrical like a stage, and low budget. rather than believable. it just looked, fake. and prop-y.

i didn't 'experience' the time traveling bits as immersively as we could have. i didn't feel the terror of the main character enough. instead it was just like, fake looking and boring in those bits.

and that was supposed to be the most interesting part. like the dude literallly tiem travels, and you somehow managed to make it boring.

that should be the most interesting part. cinemagraphically and otherwise. thats the reason people clicked on to watch this movie. time travel, is inherently extremely interesting.

but instead, they really played up the whole, depressing aspects of the film and focused on that- but then, the actors were trying to seem too 'i'm so relatable and real, 2020 millenial" and didn't like express their emotions really? the writing was just terrible when it came to character dialogue.

it didn't feel like watching two real people go through their lives, and really talk. it just, wasn't good writing.

but the *concept* was good. and they pretty much ruined all of it. and made it as sad as possible.

instead of being like interesting and cool and like WOW TIME TRAVEL it was like, "oh, that was depressing."

it didn't give you anything to take away from it. it didn't leave you feeling entertained or, like 'wow i just watched a cool sci-fi movie that was super artsy' it jus tleft you feeling, completely demolisehd emotionally.

at the end of it i was just like "wow,... well, thanks for... the depression. really needed it." (sarcasm)

this movie is a must see. it is the best film of its genre. spy movies. it is the most iconic spy film.

the trailer doesn't doesn't do it justice, you'll be on the edge of your seat the whole time and it's more difficult to predict the outcomes.

seriously it's so good just watch

I’ve been searching for a film I watched that basically starts out with a man killing another man and then pushing him down some stairs in the dark and the monologue is going on about how this man will do anything and kill anyone that stands in his way

and then it shows the beginning of the Cold War and its in England, and a woman born there joins the war effort to escape her mundane life and becomes a typist.

But then she is approached by the man who pushed that guy down some stairs at the beginning for the film and he basically turns her into a spy working for him

She has secret meetings with him on a bridge a lot and there is this scene in the beginning where this guy is talking to her by a small river not too far away from a house about how he’s a soldier and blah blah blah then he goes off to the war

and then he falls in love with the girl but she uses him for spy info

And then she lives in this flat thats super shitty with her

and then at the end the woman who is the true wife shows up

and there’s a scene where someone kills this guy who talks to himself and is like 80 years old and can’t remember anything (it’s her father I think)

I dunno I think I am mixing up several movies and that’s why I can’t find it is I’m confused but

basically the typist gets promoted on purpose by befriending the seemingly lesbian head of whatever

and then turns out she’s not lesbian she’s actually just super sad some guy she loved died and she cries during a staff meeting she wore big glasses

but that’s beside the poin... then the typist in her promoted position becomes like the leading asset or the best asset the Spy dude has

and then the spy dude at home his wife is like yelling at him because she doesnt know who he truly is

and he fell in love with the spy woman and he like asks the book keeping guy who rents the flat who lived there before and realizes that the woman used a fake name so he can’t find her

and then he tries to find her and there is this portion where this woman is smoking a cigarette and talking about how this man left her with all these kids and she was all enamored but things didn’t turn out good and so she left him or something

I think the movie jumps around in time a lot so like it goes from the present to the past to back to the present so the present is unfolding as it’s telling you the backstory as well

there’s this scene where bombs are going of so I think it wasn’t the Cold War actually I think it was ww2 and he is like standing in the street

And then one day he goes to find the spy and she’s not in her flat and there is this guy like showing up in her flat randomly who is the guy controlling her

and she tried to leave the spy life behind but he like shows up there and makes her keep doing the spy stuff

I dunno it’s super confusing because I’m not remembering it clearly but it was really good

she’s like a typist and then gets promoted that’s the most clear information I remember and she was brunette or dark haired and wore long dresses a lot

she had to do like crazy typing assignments and she was a russian spy I remember now! And she sent this boy to live with this Russian family but he was Jewish

and that’s what gave it away was she had something in her purse that was Jewish document and it exposed she wasn’t really who she said she was because she wore a cross or something like that

and the guy like went through the Russian families house when they weren’t there and then another time he showed up at the door and met the Jewish boy

the spy woman sent her boy to live with that Russian family to keep him protected from her horrible espionage life where he could get killed

I dunno! Help me lol

The most telling piece of information I have is that there was a guy who drove her around who was super quietly the whole time and he wore a green military uniform the whole time

and it was one of those old timey black cars that looks like the classic vintage Ford model kind of you know from back in the ww2 days

That and the part about her being secretly Jewish and Russian

I thought if I searched for something about a female spy who was a typist during ww2 that I would find it but that didn’t work ive tried entering every piece of information and searching through every spy movie there is

which is making me think that I’m just confusing like 9 movies together and it doesn’t exist
