 I'd classify clams as more witch house/triphop/cloud rap/idm. Same for xxyyxx. Ethereal wave has more of a darkwave or gothic rock edge to it whereas Clams and xxyyxx seem to blend some elements of ethereal with other genres.

Upon further listening I'd definitely say that Black Tape for a Blue Girl is one of the best that I've mentioned. They mix ethereal with ambient and darkwave and every release sounds fresh and distinct. The projekt and 4AD record labels seems to be good record labels for this genre.
