@ topic, discuss it and if more then just cawk wants it, fine.

Eduard and I are the only ones who ever give enough of a shit about the site to suggest features.

I do see others complain about stuff (like Blanc not being able to hide posts in her topics anymore)

If I remember right, she asked for the gore pic to be removed by a mod, not to want to hide the post (with the option for others to still view it).

Yeah, and the ability for the OP to hide posts was the former compromise, as people who wanted to see what was removed still could. It also worked as a minor CP deterrent when there wasn't someone on to delete it immediately.

Topic poster post hiding feature like on S-C was an overreach of Loona, as well as other features such as senate and reputation system. They are out of place here.

How was that an overreach? Every user had the same level of topic control, and the "censored" posts could still be seen.

If you don't want to see somebody's posts, block them on your end and you won't. Hiding posts from everyone is censorship by authority, authority would be in that case, the topic poster.

...but they could just click a thing and it'd reappear, basically like Discord's block system but for individual posts.

It also shows that they felt the need to block the content at all, which to me looks more like a public display of weakness than strength.

SC's ideals are about equality. Mods should not have perks over normal members except their mod tools.

What do you plan on using it for?

It was added for mods and admins purely for how it's helped for handling spammers in the past. Not being able to be seen when you're online makes it harder for people to predict a schedule, thereby disarming one of many spam plots.

Other than that use though what purpose would it serve?

Why are you even asking?

You are always in offline mode on Discord. Why are you being such a hypocrite?

How is it the same for here as Discord? It's two completely different platforms with different reasons for it.

Only part I really agree with is over how everyone's too soft and guarded now

You're not one to judge others on that subject. You're not even willing to post the dox of a person who messes with you on the regular.

How do you see her granting me all that free attention as a bad thing?

You implying that having your dox posted didn't affect you, hence have no reason to retaliate, is hilarious. You lost your shit and banned Ana to shut her up when she outed only your first name prior to the full dox incident.

Like really why would I even post it? There's nothing to gain from it right now.

Having people troll her is nothing to be gained for you? And you complain about others being soft? Be the change you'd like to see.

The way it looks to me: You either don't have her dox or don't have the balls to post it, fearing retaliation of some kind.

Discord and here are not very different.

The thing is, here you're mod and could use it whenever you felt like it, therefore you lack reason to push for the suggestion that everyone has it because you wanna feel special, although based on ideals, it'd be the right thing to support my suggestion.

Basically yeah.

I like seeing what people feel the need to hide from themselves and their precious topics, so ultimately I think it adds to topics instead of taking away from them. The one who's hidden the post is also very easily held socially accountable for their choice.

Topic poster post hiding feature like on S-C was an overreach of Loona, as well as other features such as senate and reputation system. They are out of place here.

How was that an overreach? Every user had the same level of topic control, and the "censored" posts could still be seen.

1. Every user doesn't post the same amount of topics.

2. Every user doesn't get the same amount of activity in their topics.

They all have the same potential for it though. What they do and don't do with the same tools is a matter of individual accountability.

As opposed to promoting inequality, it's closer to changing the structure of how we understand topics. There is for instance nothing to stop someone from making a rival topic where that OP isn't able to hide stuff.

If you don't want to see somebody's posts, block them on your end and you won't. Hiding posts from everyone is censorship by authority, authority would be in that case, the topic poster.

...but they could just click a thing and it'd reappear, basically like Discord's block system but for individual posts.

It's unnecessary censorship.

Is it really censorship though? The content is still there.

It's more like they built an ineffective fence around it that we can all point and laugh at.

It also shows that they felt the need to block the content at all, which to me looks more like a public display of weakness than strength.

"Let's throw the ideals under the bus to find out about each others' weaknesses."

How is it against "the ideals"?

Deleting content, yes, but this isn't even obfuscating it, it's just adding a single click to the process that, in turn, makes their post seem more intimidating and infamous.

As I saw with Discord blocks, having to click to reveal sort of works like a curtain call; it drums up additional suspense.

SC's ideals are about equality. Mods should not have perks over normal members except their mod tools.

What do you plan on using it for?

How is it the same for here as Discord? It's two completely different platforms with different reasons for it.

Discord and here are not very different.

At least for myself anyway, I go on here for general discussions, while I go on there to message just a few people. Discord is more like AOL instant messenger, Skype, MSN, Oovoo, etc, in that it is primarily a chat platform. It's more tailored towards the individual by giving them all tools as opposed to trying to build something singularly upon itself.

For the chat client, I understand the necessity for it, but it seems needless and extra on a forum that isn't styled to work like Reddit (beyond the earlier discussed mod clause).

I'm trying to figure what you'd even get out of it other than concealing a puppet army, as otherwise I don't really see the more direct benefits for you.

The thing is, here you're mod and could use it whenever you felt like it, therefore you lack reason to push for the suggestion that everyone has it because you wanna feel special, although based on ideals, it'd be the right thing to support my suggestion.

I haven't had a reason to use it though. With my avatar sticking to the screen, and the ability to make my status look orange while I'm active instead of just when I'm idled, it's effectively accomplishing the same thing.

Before invis was a thing I'd accomplished the opposite by appearing to be online 24/7 with an auto-refresh script. All having the invis function really did for me was save time and effort for modding. It originally came into being from me asking if Luna could make me appear online all the time... but somehow she ended up accomplishing the opposite. Posted Image

You're not one to judge others on that subject. You're not even willing to post the dox of a person who messes with you on the regular.

How do you see her granting me all that free attention as a bad thing?

You implying that having your dox posted didn't affect you, hence have no reason to retaliate, is hilarious.

That's the thing, it affected me more before it was done as opposed to after. I had all these fears and ideas in my head, but once it happened I saw absolutely nothing come of it. The dox if anything was liberating, illuminating, as it destroyed all the fears and myths I'd put around if it were to ever happen and showed me how much people won't actually do. It's one thing to worry in my own head about worst case scenarios, but it's something else entirely to see the reality of it happening instead.

I also blame Alena primarily for the dox. As much as Sugar clearly lobbied for it to happen, at the end of the day it was still her decision to post it. Sugar's not doing anything worse than reposting old news that everyone's already looked at while coming to wild conclusions over it, while Alena has actually affected me greatly more from the betrayal than anything else.

What ultimately came of my dox that really did any damages? Not much. What came of Alena posting that dox? Something much more personal, as up to a point she'd meant a lot to me.

You lost your shit and banned Ana to shut her up when she outed only your first name prior to the full dox incident.

I was naive of the above.

Like really why would I even post it? There's nothing to gain from it right now.

Having people troll her is nothing to be gained for you?

It'd be short term and eventually wear off, allowing her to move on. As is she instead talks about me incessantly while an audience of people  at how hilarious it makes her appear. The fact that it hasn't happened cultivates suspense and fear with the room to border on obsessive. Even if she at the majority of points thinks I won't do it, all I have to do is post Scrooge McDuck in a topic about being paid to out her to get days of free supply

She's very clearly threatened by my having this, which is in itself reason to keep having it. Outing it would in the long run just allow her growth and closure, things I don't want for her, and in the short term it'd serve to make her out to be an SC martyr, adding small shreds of legitimacy to her wild made up stories that people'd suddenly find more palatable. She'd also be granted relevance, making for less of her drama begging routines that we get to see now.

Beyond the personal aspects of it though, doxing isn't really something I enjoy doing, either. It feels like cheating the system, and in a practical sense it has strong self-reputation costs in the areas of reputation that actually do matter to me. If I were to out Sugar's stuff, why should anyone trust me with their personal information following that?

And you complain about others being soft? Be the change you'd like to see.

I'd also like for them to have some poise though, be able to get to people without having to go too far.

There was a time where people used social skills to fuck with people instead of just stressing them over irl collateral.

The way it looks to me: You either don't have her dox or don't have the balls to post it, fearing retaliation of some kind.

You can think what you like, as what matters is what she thinks. Posted Image

Convincing you of it being real or not doesn't really contribute to the situation much.

It takes away from the experience, especially that of the poster's. There are users who would not view a hidden post, thus you are wrong. It discourages trolling even.

Having people like blanc whining about content in their topics adds far more to the place.

You just want to have the hide post feature for your own little manipulation games.

As opposed to promoting inequality, it's closer to changing the structure of how we understand topics. There is for instance nothing to stop someone from making a rival topic where that OP isn't able to hide stuff.

I usually wouldn't care enough to re-post my post because some pussy hid it. Things are also more fun in the heat of moment.

If you don't want to see somebody's posts, block them on your end and you won't. Hiding posts from everyone is censorship by authority, authority would be in that case, the topic poster.

Should we mark our topics/posts "NSFW" when they are, for your convenience too?

You passed the majority of your life span on S-C in invisible mode.

I'm assuming not having been in the community for a year as who you really are, made you want to integrate better this time. The reason you don't go invisible anymore.

I'm trying to figure what you'd even get out of it other than concealing a puppet army, as otherwise I don't really see the more direct benefits for you.

How would concealing a puppet army benefit me?

Skype, Discord, etc. all have offline modes.

You're making a big deal out of it, fearing I have some sort of hidden agenda on my end to attack the site somehow.

The rest who disagree are ducks who dislike change.

The thing is, while you're an ass often, it's not severe enough to cross the line and make people want to mess with your life out there.

People like Sugar and Edvard, who want to appear to be flawless and bad-ass would get messed with on the regular, if not just to prove them wrong until they left/changed their ways.

So you...

1) Want a block function and invisibility function so that people can ignore you more easily.

2) Don't want a hide posts function so that they can't ignore you as easily.

I don't get it, do you want to be seen or don't you? The ones who wouldn't click to see what you're saying are liable to be the same people that'd be blocking you, right?
