Hm. I tend to find I'm more passionate the more often I'm having sex, which always made sense to me, since it keeps the mind and body in that line of focus. Like how women who don't masturbate typically have a harder time reaching orgasm during sex. The body needs to stay trained to enjoy it, in a sense, and I'd think that applies similarly at a mental-emotional level.
