So you're appealing towards a sense of Naturalism as your premise? 

We see even more prevalent even outside of the constraints of laws that'd otherwise protect them a sense of animosity towards pedophilia. If we're to stick to the Naturalism construct as the constraints of this argument, ignoring how appealing to what is natural is not always what is best, then I pose that the very same forces that produce less than 5% prevalence for pedophilia in males are what produce an even higher prevalence of people who combat those otherwise unnatural and profane urges. 

We even see anti-pedo sentiments within prison populations, so it's not just about morality but about an instinct that urges towards protecting youth from harm.

Interesting way of wording things, these two words are not antonyms. Pedophilia is definitely a crime, and whether it is natural or not isnt a defense. We are human beings capable of rational thought and decision making, and pedophilia is immoral because it exploits the most vulnerable so traumaticly.

And yeah, being attracted to children is an illness. Acting on that attraction should always be a crime considered worse than aggravated assault and homicide. I'd argue that it is the clash of urges that have us inhibit ourselves from anything we're otherwise not doing, so we'd be in the same place we are now if we "succumbed to our urges" from that being how we already operate.
