Internet history's had a lot of weird turns and dramas. Shoe on Head from YTMND was an instant classic.
Loved that show in my teens. The storytelling and artwork. Fantastic.
In the 80's there was no internet, few things on TV holds dear to a lot of Generation X members.
This show was popular back then. It had nice artwork, though if you ask me the storytelling never quite aged well.
Friend of mine is hardcore pop culture comic book anime freak to the point where it's his life's mission to ensure the preservation of animated presentations old and new.
He had in his possession the original blueprint for the Sword of Omens from that show and he had the blade painstakingly made out of 1075 high carbon steel, and bronze.
The unveiling party.
When everyone was at the party ( 97% sausage fest, all Gen-Xers ) he made his announcement and brought the red cloak and unwrapped it.
To our astonishment it is thee, most accurate recreation of the Sword of Omens in the entire universe. At 6 lbs you can feel how the solid object can easily slay any beast. 6lbs is more than you think, as this thing cannot be swung as fast as a baseball bat unless you do a rolling spinny attack thing using your body weight then transfer the force to the blade.
To top it off we were having an electrical storm that night which added to the amusement as we passing the blade around like a bunch of monkeys while talking about the days long ago.
Here we have the making of the sword.
25 minutes of hell.
The blade took 4 months to make. Up to this day my friend refuses to tell anyone how much he paid to have it made.
Childhood nostalgia ? Oh yes. If someone went on a rampage with this thing, the marksman will pause at the sword of omens before shooting down the wielder.
hmm...I remember being chased. I lived in the rich suburbs filled with shiny, clean white kids before moving to a small town in the middle of grade one. I had bright blonde braids and wore lots of pink and bright cheery colours. I stuck out in a bad way.
My first day of school, having no friends, I became interested in the kids who were wearing jean jackets and smoking. After sizing them up for some time I marched over to them and loudly proclaimed "YOU'RE INDIANS!" It wasn't a judgment, just an observation. I remember them saying 'Get her!', I ran so fast, right past my dad's car, and all the way home. He was waiting in the parking lot to drive me home lol.
hmm...I remember being chased.
So... what, you get childhood nostalgia from running away from stuff?
