Race does not exist. Humans are 99.9% similar and the other 0.1% is our appearance. There's nothing that all people of the black 'race' have in common that is unique to them (other then skin colour). The modern day concept of race was created by colonizers to create an us v them mentality so the public think it's ok to enslave people of the other race. Humans have similar features because of ethnic groups. The difference in skin colour is because of adaption to colder places.
it is very simplistic to assume that colder places would only cause evolutionary benefit for certain types of skin colour and not other chracteristics, too. It does not make sense. It is also a very simplistic view of dna etc that certain gene combinations etc cause just 1 thing etc. basically we dont know much about it at all. you may have noble intentions, but it is not really scientific or even logical.

You are absolutely correct.
What does exist is culture. Fucking goats, eating smelly foods, beheading women for being mouthy, all that sort of nasty business.
So when I look at some asshole and throw out a slur, it's not his skin colour that annoys me.
I'm annoyed by the behaviours that (some people within) his culture says are ok.

Um... it's way more complicated than that.
The changes to human melanin happened over tens of thousands of years, after huge percentages of ancient populations died off.
That's how evolution works.
There are click bait-y articles floating around that claim the changes to human skin happened more quickly. But I'm hella skeptical about them.
a very simple example, so that you can fathom it, too: if black where white, you could still identify them in terms of other defining characteristics that have nothing to do with skin colour.
Like?

What else would be adapted to suit colder climates?

Before about the 19thc, a nasty little thing kept darker skinned people from doing well in cold climates.
Lactose intolerance. Look it up if you don't believe me.
Northern people drank the milk of non humans, while most poc did not. (There were/are a few groups of pastoral nomads in Africa and the middle east who did, but they are the exceptions, not the rule.)
Less sunlight = less vitaminD absorption, so the people closer to the equator who migrated north, and did not partake in the local customs of drinking milk missed out on the added benefits of a diet higher in calcium and vitamin D.
So larger percentages of poc died of RICKETS.
Again, we're talking about changes that happened over thousands of years.
And again, current technology is removing some of the environmental determinism that left our ancestors debilitated in centuries past.
