Ignoring the plethora of forgettable chorus roles, background dancer assignments, and martial demonstrations:

The Dad from Hansel and Gretle was my first solo part:

The Chef from Little Mermaid

Child singer for Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat's traveling Broadway show when they were in SF with Patrick Cassidy and Deborah Gibson (the colors are still burnt into my brain):

Multiple roles in Big River (more notably the guy singing about how amazing Arkansas is):

Prince Dauntless the Drab in Once Upon a Mattress:

Harry the Horse in Guys and Dolls (with dance solo additions added):

I feel like I'm forgetting some. I'd also tried out to be the kid who screamed in Flubber, but that's more about trying than doing. I grew up a member of the Thespian Society, but left most of it behind me when I was done with school. Even in college I was mostly taking classes and studying other people's works.

I also went on tour doing the nutcracker for the company that I danced wth many years

I did it many years, for a while I was a solo bon bon role I don’t know why this version doesn’t include the solo at the end but here’s similar to our routine

it was my fave because it was super high energy

but getting to be Clara was nice because I got to be taken seriously as a member of the company. I was the youngest person in the company on tour and youngest on pointe in my school, youngest to partner.

you could say the burn out started early lmao

but yeah I got to keep the nutcracker that was used as a prop and that was like a big deal to me

(This is why I was in good shape lol)

if you ever wanna get in really good shape just be a dancer. You’ll look like this^ In 1 year

and yes I can still walk on my hands in a circle. If there’s ever a hand stand contest, I will beat you at it. I could stay there all day lol

Nutcracker and Christmas Story are both so expected.

Was also in gymnastics and won several competitions with that, I was doing aerials on the high beam and complex bar and floor routines when I quit

because of an injury

that was the most cool thing I could do was two arias backwards in a row and then a third off the end of the beam landing on the floor

Or I would do two arial backwards and then land on one foot and stick the other one out arabesque while elevating into the toe of the one foot I landed on

it was the most difficult and scary move to do and I had to be screamed at by my coach to be pushed to do it becuase I couldn’t bring myself to just fling myself backwards into the air hoping I wouldn’t snap my neck

but if someone screamed at me I could do it for some reason. Lol the pressure was immense to be perfect

because if you don’t get everything exactly perfect then you will fall off and potentially hurt yourself really severely lol

and that’s what happened is one time (lol) I was on the bars doing the thing where you jump from the small bar to the high bar doing flips on it and shit

and I was going too fast and that’s scary like making that leap and shit your hands blister and shit. But one day my hand just slipped probably because I put too much chalk on it to cover the blisters. And I just went flying like many feet into the air and then landed on my neck

surprisingly after that I still did cheerleading competitions and was a flyer. You’d think I would of had a fear of heights by then but it didn’t occur to me.

then one day someone dropped me flat on my back from a pretty good height and knocked the wind out of me

and finally with the dance I broke my leg. I pushed as hard as I could go during a summer intensive program and I was literally on stage doing a performance and the coach had to pull me Off. She wasn’t for me dancing on it when it was clearly injured but I wanted to finish the performances.

and then I fell after doing a back hand spring and she literally came on the stage during the performance and dragged me off like “get off. Now” “you’re going to snap your fucking leg you idiot lol”

she was worried I would further injur it because I just wouldn’t stop lol

my parents engrained in me I wasn’t allowed to quit so I just would not quit

after that spent so long in a cast even after physical therapy it wasn’t the same so I just did theater to sort of fill the void that not being able to dance left

I’ll always miss it cuz it was my life so. I still go to a lot of the performances and see people I know still performing haha

To this day. This year will probably be first year I don’t go see the nutcracker

Did you go to local film and theater festivals?
