I do recall a lot of you were under Vard's influence. Especially when you were noobs, he would latch onto you and have you join his groupthink campaign against me.

Then I came. You would unload but I kept coming closer and shining brighter in forgiveness and understanding. When I was closer to you, you were closer to me and marvelled at my glory. That's when Vard fell out with you.

Some of you were unable to change until Vard was removed and locked away. But today, the community get's along much better.

In closing, I will also point out how Vard is a fan of Hillary, and if he were American, he would've voted for Biden LOL.

Wow, I feel like we experienced vastly different forums Tony, how strange.

Well that was a long time ago so you wouldn't remember.

What was particularly interesting as it related to my experience with Ed in pm and general was that there always had to be teams.

We were generally friendly until I disagreed with him on something and then he was 'disappointed' in me for becoming one of 'them'.

I didn't get along with him in the old days, because he was constantly mocking me for being undecisive, which I admittedly was.  Anyway, he owes me.

When I came back after several years, we got along pretty ok. I would say he was the most influential person on SC. The fact that he treated you so well as long as you were on his side probably had some part to play in that. I respect Ed.

My experience with him was similar.  We were getting on perfectly fine until I publicly disagreed with him about how to handle a Luna explosion, and then suddenly he was capslocking at me that I "don't know the meaning of friendship".  (I kid you not.  Verbatim.)  From that day on, I was the enemy.  It was a trip. lol

Lol

I think it was mostly that it was hugely beneficial to be on Edvard's good side. I'm not sure what people's real opinions were, but if you happened to be on his good side you'd get someone helping you grow, whereas if you were on his bad side you would be gifted with constant headache. I think he trained people like dogs -- in a good way. There was nothing manipulative about it. Ed is not all that complicated. I mean, he's pretty simple, actually.

Edvard's rules, as far as I understood them, were:

1. Edvard is the most alpha person here, and everyone else is below him in the male hierarchy.

2. If you're a girl, flirt.

3. Don't argue with Edvard.

If you respected those three rules, you were usually safe and he would act graciously.

It ignores how he talks to dudes though, he has a system for them as well.

I disagree, I think being on his bad side's hilarious and that many saw that as an allure of it's own. I myself had far less 'headaches' over him once I stopped taking him seriously.

What served as the bait from him was his ability to sew conflict in the first place.

How does simplicity make it no longer manipulation?

Also damn, that dude's PMs are something else. Based on what I've picked up over the years and generally from forum tones, unless it's Xena, Misscomm, or Inquirer, the stuff he says in private's usually pretty epic tier even when he thinks you're on his side.

What's his system for guys?

I think he did it as a hobby.

I don't think there was much thought into it is what I meant.

Flirting becomes replaced with broish sensibilities, and while his sense of "sides" remains he's done some sneaky campaigns against people here through PMs for the sake of some sort of messed up synergy.

He's like some sort of frat reject that has to use the internet to ego compensate.

What served as the bait from him was his ability to sew conflict in the first place.

I saw him as stuck in it beyond his own control, he wasn't hard to provoke.

He'd set long term goals but otherwise wing it with social webbing.

Yeah dude, he took this site more seriously than most people here.

He just has to think you're on his wavelength, then he's strangely willing to coordinate. His Female Handling 101's more tongue in cheek than straight male satire.

I would characterize myself as a very hot-headed person. However, I can see how you would form your opinion that I am mild-mannered. After all, my character applies reason and logic as opposed to coercion or emotional appeals when faced with challenges. Let me point out, however: the underlying motivation  that drives my character is of emotional nature, leading, at times, to destructive outcomes. This is what makes Legga a `hot-headed` person, alongside his rich but dark background story. Therefore, I would not say that I am not mild-mannered, although parts of my personality fit the stereotypical nerd.

I'm not Edvard.

I'd say it's more likely that you[re Edvard's alter ego. You express yourself in a similar fashion.
