An ethical dilemma

So there is this IT company here in Australia that is currently holding the patent for... a concept... that I believe is simply a logical conclusion to a problem and shouldn't be legally patentable. The people holding it are essentially stalling technological advancement because they, despite holding it for quite a while now, seem to lack the means, intellectual or otherwise, to actually use the concept to progress. But if I dispute the patent then I am putting everyone who signed NDAs at risk of legal action... but for the grater good... what should I do?

Because if I share details then I'm certain that there are some snakes in the grass and it would get out anyway. which, honestly it should, the patent is fucking publicly available to read... this is hyperbole but the principle is applicable, it's like they tried to patent gravity but used terms they were confident the patent officer wouldn't be intelligent enough to understand. It makes me angry, yet I am legally bound to do nothing.

What would you dispute exactly? Ownership? They own the patent.

If you mean to go public with someone else's patent, prepare for lawsuits. You'd be sacrificing yourself for your idealism.

Leak it anonymously, if you know how. I'm pretty interested actually you make it seem like they just discovered how to hyperdrive in space.

I would dispute the legality of the patent. No one should own logical conclusions. This is, it's like trying to patent data trees or fucking flow charts, but just a bit more technical.

Would you not sacrifice yourself for your idealism? or are you just hypocritically telling me not to? or simply pointing out that's what it would be, if the latter, I'm aware.

They said the patent is publicly available to read. It's just that nobody except the patent holders can realise it.

The legality in which context? Unless the law changes, you don't have much leverage. I don't know much about patents though.

Lol. Yes, I was doing the latter.

They would look into everyone who signed an NDA and if certain conversations of mine were subpoenaed then I'd sacrifice more than just myself
