Do you not know how cravings and withdrawal works?
I do, but I guess I have just seen too many people who have alcoholism run in their family, give up alcohol easily when their lives got better because they decided to fix them, then never go back to drinking even when their lives got worse. Experiences differ greatly from what is expected, so I have never seen anyone with the same history of alcoholism in their family, that started drinking solely because of their genes. There was always an underlying reason they felt they needed to give into their cravings. I am not an expert on addiction, so all I have is the several examples I have witnessed, so I am going off of those. He quit, so please let me know what would make him go back to it at this time? Like, why is he able to quit at all, if the cravings are so overwhelming that even when he is happy, he ends up at the store buying alcohol, without even thinking about it for a second. Withdrawal can be ignored or you can work through it, which is how you quit to begin with.
