I recently ran into a person touting income equality for all.

So I asked him what exactly does this mean?

Basically he said that the top 1% are getting richer while the rest of the people are getting poorer. The income gap is getting larger.

I asked him why this is a problem and he had nothing to say.

I saw this Fox News segment where they asked some Bernie voter why they voted for him and they said something about income inequality, then the Fox news reporter pressed them and the voter was unable to rationalise her position and it became clear that she didn't really know much about anything. In that same Fox reports all Bernie supporters were painted to be exactly like that lowest common denominator. 

Maybe stop arguing with idiots that will reinforce your preconceived bias if you can't even handle that. 

So I ask you. Why is it a problem that the top 1% or 0.1% get richer while everybody else just gets a little bit richer?

That's a dishonest question, there wouldn't be an issue if everyone just got a little bit richer along with the top 1%. 

Seems this has been used as a tool to push socialism. Somehow its unfair that the rich get richer? They dont deserve to get richer?

Seems the top 0.1% kinda got it figured out, while the rest maybe just dont care, are happy where they are, or a just are not smart enough to figure things out.

I mean, money is not everything right. As long as you are happy.

Capitalism rewards those that work harder smarter.

What do we do with people that dont or cant work harder and smarter? Do they deserve the same income as a Lawyer?

Income inequality by definition is less about the specific people becoming rich, it's a societal problem. It's also not a stable thing, income inequality has skyrocketed over the past decades and puts an increasingly larger strain on an increasingly larger amount of people. If you don't care about the greater implications for society, then fair enough I guess. But I'd like as many people as possible to do as well as possible. Do you really not see the issue with 1% of Americans projected to receive a quarter of the national income in a decade or two? 

 why tho? why is it not stable? are people starving to death?
