anyway, the entire point of Celebrity is being set apart from everyone else for being "extra special and entertaining"

which is why I said it's dying because now everyone is or at least thinks they are extra special and entertaining. and if everyone is then like, there is no being set apart really other than personality and physical appearance differences

Celebrity culture is dyinf because anyone can be a celebrity on the internet.

That's not death, that's evolution.

If anything it means an increase in competition.

Its not evolution. It's replacement, celebrity culture is being replaced by popularity. The world isnt completely enthralled by Ninja at the new years eve ball dropping, but they are by a lady gaga half time show? The micro celebrities that catch people's attention now are much more human than the untouchable, god-like idols of yesterday. They're just inflated versions of the Super Popular Kid that went to your high school. A large, but not global, fanbase likes them because they know all about them.

In the case of celebrities you rarely know anything about them except what they may reveal in interviews. Fans obsess over the roles they play and commercials they star in. No one in 1955 knew Marilyn Monroe as well as I know Julien Solomita.

Marilyn was an actress. The public saw her play a part. Who tf is Julien Solomita? An aries with 4 dogs, celiac disease, and a habit of moving his head while his girlfriend cuts his hair.

No one saw Audrey Hepburn react to the stress of life as a star but I've seen Jeffree Star cry over a break up the same way I've seen my best friend cry over a break up, the same way I saw a girl I barely knew cry over a break up at a bar.

Celebrity culture is dying because the internet is making it easier for people to interact directly. It is being replaced by a popularity culture measured in social interaction rather than merely having their face and name plastered across a magazine or marquee.

The mass popularity of movie stars and rock stars is being replaced by micro-influencers and youtubers.

Have you seen how hard it is to do that shit? There's an entire process to it all that keeps it in motion.

Sc is pretty boring.

It's not dying, it's getting even larger. People (streamers) get paid to literally just be in front of a camera and talk. And people donate to them for that. On the YouTube end, things have only been ramping up with people like the Paul brothers, Shane Dawson, the Mukbang community, whatever the fuck else. The need for parasocial relationships and living vicariously through others has only increased, because the Internet has made us more isolated.

Simps and random thot mini celebs on social medias are the most supreme example of this. People like Pokimane and her loser fans.

From what little I know, Pokimane seems alright. I have multiple thoughts on this.

I don't think it's necessarily bad that boys or young adults, or even grown men enjoy seeing a woman interact with people. My personal philosophy is the old meme:

NEVER SUBBED. NEVER DONATED. ADBLOCK ON. STOLEN LAPTOP. NEIGHBOURS WIFI. MOMMAS HOUSE. STOLEN SOLAR PANEL.S STOLEN SUN SOLAR ENERGY. STOLEN WATER WHEEL. NEIGHBOURS RIVER STOLEN. HYDROELECTRIC PLANT. CHARGING PHONE WITH WORK ELECTRICITY SHOWER IN BATHROOM SINK. STOLEN FOOD FROM CAFETERIA. STOLEN HAMSTER. STOLEN HAMSTER WHEEL. KINETIC ENERGY FREE ENTERTAINMENT.

That's just my shit. Although, I think there is some massive irony in people donating to millionaires.

But I don't see anything inherently wrong with what she does. If people didn't spend their money on her rich ass, they'd probably be spending it on some other dumb shit.

I'd much rather get a sandwich from penn station than sub to something like that, if I was single. Seems like a waste. These guys should get with a girl not just watch them as 100s of other guys send her money.

My grandiose delusions are better than yours.
