i'd say it was the nude children being posted on her site that did her in. it forced her to build in security and mod features she never originally wanted.
luna always wanted to get rid of mods. she said many times her goal was to create a software that was free of mods. the rep and senate systems were a part of that.
she was never able to accomplish her goal due to the cp being posted. she failed at achieving the goals she set out for her software.
She elected mods years before this just for spam.
but spam didnt force her to build in security and mod features she never originally wanted.....but this is not the main reason either
the culprit was....the community. the community overreacted to nude children, got extra mods added who banned sock accounts based on guesses of who the persons behind the accounts were with the intent of blacklisting certain users (the nude children posters) < at this point, sc started digging its own grave
even though sock accounts were getting banned, that still was not enough to the community...
now then some people who were getting along with said nude children posters were also banned by association you included, and no sympathizing with nude children posters was allowed, or even quoting them
m0ds and luna became obsessed with shielding the community as if the users were all children and it was a LGBTQ safe haven. in luna's defense, she was pushed into this by the community, luna even received a thorough roasting session on discord by sugar, ed and co. for not power tripping and not banning users
luna kept adding mods, and added bullshit updates such as 50 posts requirement to embed images and disallowing tor users to register accounts
when all was said and done, the site was not enjoyable anymore. luna was also shown she could power trip and get away with impunity which corrupted her beyond repair
luna had no reason anymore to keep running the site if her power tripping was disapproved, she eventually received disapproval for power tripping from what she thought was her most loyal follower, ed. ed did this after he had realized what a mess the site had become and the guy was trying to correct his mistakes

not sure people see this, but imo the cp being posted was in retaliation to luna's bannings and narcissism. her incessant bragging in public about banning and destroying people did not help. the same people are here. there has been no, or very little cp. luna was her own worst enemy. she caused the cp and the ddosing by attacking thin skinned narc's and then bragging about it. that did not go well for her, lol. don't know if anyone ever explained this to her.
imo the 3 external forces that broke luna:
-continuous harassment
-stress from cp spam/ddos
-community antipathy (sabotage of senate and the other luna initiatives)
I've seen claims that luna leaving sc was something she did well in the end. I disagree because she didn't leave on her own accord. She attempted to fight back and lost and then left. I suspect she has not grown as a person
