The Flying Monkey Phenomenon

A form of covert narcissistic abuse where the narcissist will include others in a group to smear and belittle another based on falsehoods, or situations where the concept of victimhood is blown out of proportion. This sometimes happens shortly before a narcissist intends to discard someone for some reason. The Flying Monkeys themselves are usually in a position where they have admiration for the abuser, and not only buy what they're told at face value, but will be enraged and turn on the narcissist's target as intended.

The Flying Monkey themselves balance on a thin line between abuse and reward, as they themselves fear abandonment by the covert narcissist.

They call it a phenomenon but it's obvious to me as to why this happens. The grass simply doesn't look greener on the other side, so the flying monkey finds comfort in what's really more of a codependency.

Some shit I found online said:
"Codependency is a behavioral condition in a relationship where one person enables another person's addiction, poor mental health, immaturity, irresponsibility, or under-achievement. Among the core characteristics of codependency is an excessive reliance on other people for approval and a sense of identity."

There is some of that going on with the flying monkey as they are generally people of poor mental health and immaturity which is why they are easily controlled by the covert narcissist.

Some experts believe the Flying monkey in some cases enable the covert narcissist's behavior, which might actually be true to a degree considering how the monkey is more than willing to take the initiative to belittle and destroy the target in an effort to please their programmer.

.

Personally I've seen a lot of this going on around here where people will bend to an abusers will and be the flying monkey. Take some of you for example, still having a firm belief that I'm a narcissist while Vard used to have you on a string while he would call me out as one, as he'd kick, and scream and tremble in hatred.

Further research indicates that the Flying Monkey thing is 100% curable, but that depends if the subject themselves wake up and start to think for themselves. In some cases people claimed to once be a flying monkey until they got served.

Who knows. One day you might find yourself in a situation where people you enjoy being around, at the same time start turning sour on you, They will take even your sense of humor very seriously, and act accordingly. You'll identify it by the awkward passive aggressiveness that fills the air. At that point the subjects cannot be turned by the target, just, "you've been very bad." The best thing to do is remove yourself from the situation, and cut contact with the whole chain of friends. It will sting for a day or 2 depending on how mature you are mentally, but on the upside it goes away very quickly especially if you obtain knowledge on the matter. Then you'll find it's really nothing personal, nor is it the first time they as a group done such a thing.

While in the process of being belittled for questionable reasons which is often a false title given by the abuser, it's wise not to push back on the Flying Monkeys as your retaliation will then become proof to their thinking which lacks any critical evaluation.

Not everyone in the group will follow suit and do the monkey thing, but their silence on the matter can be for many more admirable reasons.

.

For Med Fans.....

Do I think she's been a hot topic around here because of some other person ? No. Her wounds are self inflicted, yet at the same time she doesn't detach herself from the continuing toxicity she finds here which can be a lighter example of not detaching oneself from abusive environments geared to belittle and destroy a target.

.

Not the best report on the subject, but one of the shorter ones.

What inspired this topic? It's an interesting one, but you're usually too afraid to let yourself stand out this much these days unless someone you don't like is suffering.

Some shit I found online said:
"Codependency is a behavioral condition in a relationship where one person enables another person's addiction, poor mental health, immaturity, irresponsibility, or under-achievement. Huh, I tried looking up the source for this quote only to find it all over the place.

While this is obviously you airing out how much of a victim you are, have you ever seen yourself as a victim of said flying monkeys' support? Did you ever see them enabling you, and thusly that's how you can blame someone else for how you were acting?

You've been manipulated multiple times by flying monkeys of your own Space Case, and every time I remind you of it you take it like it's new information. If it wasn't for you outright asking me to prove it each time I'd think you were hiding something, but instead it's like something out of the movie Memento.

Personally I've seen a lot of this going on around here where people will bend to an abusers will and be the flying monkey. Take some of you for example, still having a firm belief that I'm a narcissist while Vard used to have you on a string while he would call me out as one, as he'd kick, and scream and tremble in hatred.

Dude, you are a narc, and it doesn't take a gaggle of gigglers to see it either. You have many telltale textbook signs and many, many of the weaknesses, and frankly if they aren't seeing it it's because of something within themselves.

This reads as you trying to externalize the blame, again. Can't you take responsibility for your own failings this time, or is it forever going to always be another person's fault?

I know going into your astrology doesn't rub you the right way either, so I'll avoid it for now in hopes that you'll actually read what I'm saying instead of go into pseudo-stoic hysterics like usual.

Further research indicates that the Flying Monkey thing is 100% curable, but that depends if the subject themselves wake up and start to think for themselves. In some cases people claimed to once be a flying monkey until they got served.

Will you wake up and think for yourself, or will you as part of the conspiracy machine continue to yell that the rest of the world must be "Brainwashed", while you profess how the world only has one truth: Your own?

Do you not see your own room for delusion within your rambles?

Spats, you need to grow up and realize your peers aren't children at the playground. Take some responsibility for yourself for God's sake, or your Road to Hell will be paved with the very 'good' intentions you've been warned about.

You need to look at your own affect on others, and you should be willing to give people's "false" realities a bit of a wider berth, lest you forget that your own views are just as malleable and potentially flawed as theirs. When people are disturbed by your behavior, it's not because of some groupthink conspiracy against you, it's because of you, and continuing to blame it on other sources is how you defensively avoid internalizing the toil you feel too subconsciously worried to face, "lest it destroy you" or something dumb and dramatic like that.

You should go back to your time of Phoenix symbolism, you were much stronger then than this shadow of your former self you're brandishing at us now. For real dude, you've let yourself go, you used to be much more of a force than this.

It's been years dude, if it was just because of ingroup machinations you'd have outlasted it. FFS you joined before I did and people already fucking saw it, which inspired me to try to see past it and in the end fail

As for your "jokes", dude, it's a defensive smokescreen and we can all see it. You don't want people to laugh at your crazy theories and odd half-baked ideas, and overtime you've learned to add some humorous flair to it so that you have the room to backtrack and tell people you were just trying to be funny. A lot of it parrots and echoes your older rhetoric, but with much more fear

Do you fear us, Spatial? Are you only still here because you don't want to see yourself as a coward?

It will sting for a day or 2 depending on how mature you are mentally, but on the upside it goes away very quickly especially if you obtain knowledge on the matter. Then you'll find it's really nothing personal, nor is it the first time they as a group done such a thing.

Considering how you're still on old drama from years ago, you by your own admission must not be very mature, friend.

While in the process of being belittled for questionable reasons which is often a false title given by the abuser, it's wise not to push back on the Flying Monkeys as your retaliation will then become proof to their thinking which lacks any critical evaluation.

Have you ever thought to ask where the ammunition your supposed haters have comes from?

Without you, no one would have these quotes and nonsense of yours to work with. I can see why you've become more guarded of your "truth", your time here has broken you more than once and from it you've taken away how to shroud yourself just enough to not feel mocked.

...then when it eventually catches up to you anyway, you reveal your hand for the fearful premeditation that it really is.

Not everyone in the group will follow suit and do the monkey thing, but their silence on the matter can be for many more admirable reasons.

Obviously this is your cope for those who said nothing or deliver mere lip service to you during harder times, so that you don't feel alone.

It's a shame, this will likely conceal from you the value of those who stick around with you in more overt ways. It shows you to be a person who looks at rank as a matter of weight, a numbers game, instead of purely for each individual.

Is this how you ended up relating to her?

It makes sense, Trump's shat on similarly too.

Not the best report on the subject, but one of the shorter ones.

I get the feeling that you pat yourself on the back like this because of how what you've done here isn't enough for you, for how this hasn't offered you the closure you once imagined.

You're onto something, but I'm not afraid, nor is this about anyone I dislike. I felt the urge to study this behavior on my own.

There is some of that going on with the flying monkey as they are generally people of poor mental health and immaturity which is why they are easily controlled by the covert narcissist.

The first question, yes. As for the 2nd question, I don't recall flying monkeys enabling me in anyway. I recognize immature behavior, hence why I tend to comfort the doxxed while you all have a field day with it.

You've been manipulated multiple times by flying monkeys of your own Space Case, and every time I remind you of it you take it like it's new information. If it wasn't for you outright asking me to prove it each time I'd think you were hiding something, but instead it's like something out of the movie Memento.

My own flying monkeys ? But what would I have them do ? One time on the old forum someone called crusader stood up for me, I kinda felt embarrassed. Those times Sugar stood up for me against Ed though, I really appreciated it cause she would speak the truth. That doesn't mean I instilled any thoughts in her, and again I really appreciate when people are realistic.

Personally I've seen a lot of this going on around here where people will bend to an abusers will and be the flying monkey. Monkey label again. People who know me, know I'm not a narcissist. I'm no pushover but I would imagine my kindness makes me seem more like that. Feel free to go into astrology, and generalize all Sagittarius if you want. Now it's easy to insist I am a narc considering how I might list what I've done and how I've been in an effort to tell you what I'm not, but it's pointless. I did mention there are flying monkeys in SC, does that surprise you ?

HA HA HA. I'm reciting my findings in the psychology space. The term Flying Monkey is utilized by professionals to describe this type of groupthink.

Schizotypal man. It's like you to pervert anything I have to say against me. What I'm talking about here is a real thing. It's not that hard really.

I do take responsibility when I upset others, I apologize and do whatever they want to make it better.

I'm talking about passive aggressiveness programing others. When I evacuate a toxic environment, I do it for myself and them. I'm aware after the fact I'll have haters and it's not like I wouldn't try to make things right nor is a fallout something I wanted.

On topic though, Flying Monkeys. In the heat of the moment, there isn't anything that can be done about it.

You should go back to your time of Phoenix symbolism, you were much stronger then than this shadow of your former self you're brandishing at us now. For real dude, you've let yourself go, you used to be much more of a force than this.

I like that.

Well TC, even I can get hurt. And I wouldn't have bothered making this thread if I never pulled myself together. As I've mentioned countless times over the years. I look forward to harshness, as I see it as a real opportunity to transform into the better version of myself. And what do you know ? I felt better in 2 days, though I'm not happy about losing friends.

It's been years dude, if it was just because of ingroup machinations you'd have outlasted it. FFS you joined before I did and people already fucking saw it, which inspired me to try to see past it and in the end fail

Honestly. I think you're being too dramatic. Like damn. Is this not a good topic of discussion ? We never talked about Flying Monkeys before, and sooner or later it's bound to happen to anyone.

You say that after years of debate and frowning at my theism. I don't just bring up things. I have no shame in talking about E.T's like ordinary people do. It's something I simply looked into out of interest, but I see fear in others when it comes to these type of subjects. Already you'd assume I believe in all these things, but really it's something I'm able to talk about.

As for my crazy theories, I don't know which you're referring to. Overunity ? That happens in nature. Niagara falls for example.

My jokes are just humor and nothing more, the purpose/reason of my humor are simply to make people laugh. Otherwise I'm either bored or not interested in entertaining you.

Do you fear us, Spatial? Are you only still here because you don't want to see yourself as a coward?

Funny how you always have so much to say, while asking so many questions, and you're very dramatic.

I came back cause I had something I wanted to post. I'm still weening off the forum, and I'm pretty bored these days.
