Sweden responded to the virus without a ton of hysteria, and in a timely fashion. Here, everyone responded late and then blew things out of proportion because they care about optics, media-fuelled nightmare vision and re-election.
You say "without a ton of hysteria", while I say they handle it too casually. If they had an outbreak happen there more naturally instead of through the roll of the dice of second hand acquisition, they'd have been fucked.
I'd say the bigger issue within the US was over how much hysteria many didn't show, how many people insist on either pushing others to still work, or push themselves to instead. It's those who act like "this is no big deal" that make it a big deal.
