Learn Greek and Latin, both will open you up to nearly all Western knowledge up to the 18th century.

He won't do it.

Why do you not believe in me?

You only know how to talk big.

You'd need to actually make more of a habit out of accomplishing things for me to see it as a pattern instead of mere bravado.

Don't get me wrong, more power to you to try, but this by itself doesn't impress me when this forum's wall-to-wall with people making claims above their station.

I am working on self-sufficiency and time management. It's not bravado. When I said "Friends, Romans, Countrymen, and i go on this big speech of motivation, it's not entirely meant to be taken as me believing myself to be of some higher status, it's silly, it's exaggeration, I mean it in a friendly context, not to say that I am better than you in anyway. I am already aware of how inferior I am, that's why I'm trying to self-improve.

I mean me saying "I SHALL BRING PAX, LIBERTAS, FORTVNA,IVSTVM AND SECVRITAS TO MY NEW IMPERIVM!" is a just ripping off Anakin from Star Wars, it's meant to be silly.

What have you done to show for it thus far?

I'm not talking about the showboating, I'm talking about the claims.

Are you though? Are you, or is this just you saying a thing that makes you feel smarter and humbler for having done so?

While admitting to your own issues is the first step towards solving a problem, it's where a lot of people otherwise stop. Someone admitting to their own stupidity for instance doesn't make them smarter the more often they go on about it, it's just the key to the door towards potential future steps.

Admitting to one's own faults is an easy way to pat yourself on the back, just like admitting to anything else. What judges your character is what you end up doing about it, and that won't be seen until you're doing it.

Creatures of self-inflicted shame tend to see it as a socially sunken cost.

Yes! But only if you've actually started, and feel obligated to not disappoint the ones you've announced it to, and they at least pretend to give a damn and check up on your progress regularly. You may lie to them however, in which case no, it works badly. If you don't lie however, it's generally a good thing to announce it to someone that will care.

I've announced it here, and to all my real life friends, and I'm more pressured to do it because of real life friends and acquaintances. I've begun chapter 4 of my book. I plan on re-reading it multiple times. The point of announcing it, wasn't necessarily to outline "just me". I'm trying to encourage people to learn Latin. I've been sending friends sources on it.

I firmly believe that all should seek knowledge, and to increase mental and physical strength. TC might ask why I view this as important, well. It connects with my perception that we are going to enter a crisis soon. Perhaps not even in my life time, but my point is to try to gain as much knowledge, to then create an intelligentsia. If I ever have children, I too would like to try to encourage them to become polymaths.

TC might not see polymathy as a practical career goal within the framework of just a job in society, but I don't care for just some "job" in society. I want more than that. Would a leader not benefit from being a polymath? My goal is to earn the respect, and experience to be able to become a leader, to become a man of action. The question of whether or not I will ever make it is not important. May my efforts towards such as well as the measure of time dictate if I ever succeed or not.

I plan to make updates on my progress, I plan to try to outline a more structured schedule, right now I've just been reading a chapter a day, and I plan on extending that. Yesterday, I got side-tracked, but I was watching other sources on Latin that is helping me to understand my book better.

What's stopping me from reading the English translation of those ancient sacred texts instead of learning Latin to read the originals?

Well, nothing, but learning Latin is a pathway to many abilities some consider unnatural

Jokes aside. Latin is still used in the fields of Science, Medicine, and Law, so it can help you there. The language of Latin is considered almost like math, because of some of the complexities of it, it can help with critical thinking skills.

On top of this, learning Latin would help you to understand English even better, because while English is a germanic language. A lot it's words are derived from Latin. Take for example, Liberty, Paternal, Maternal, Democracy, etc. It's said that half, if not over half of the English language can be traced back to Latin.

You'll be able to also vaguely understand me and Jim when we're shitposting in Romanian. I feel that's a big plus you've missed.
