I do not hate philosophy. Rather, I hate it when people try to overcomplicate something when it "just is". For example, psychology tends to do this quite a lot.
Things you don't immediately grasp aren't "overcomplicated". Beyond you, potentially, but calling it overcomplicated shows more about your (tiny) threshold for complication.
Anything you can construe as "simple" or "just is" is layman's idiocy, and a desire for the simpler answer is a desire for Dunning Kruger bias, especially when that "simple" is just a reflection of your own ideas of it. Life is complicated, and simplifying, much like streamlining, only serves to speed it up while sacrificing most of it's meaning and depth.
Be patient and allow yourself to feel like an idiot and you might actually learn something you don't already know. The best answers don't come easily, while the worst ones do.
Now I like psychology, but this habit irritates me. For example, those with "NPD" or otherwise "self absorbed" people might be that way for multiple reasons and it has to be analyzed on a person to person basis. So, it could be that they just actually think they are awesome or maybe it's a defense mechanism. Psychology however, throws one of those cases out the window and say it automatically must be underlying insecurity. My "rants" are often directed towards this type of over-analysis; the assertion that nothing can merely be as is.
So... you hate it because you feel like it's insulted you?
