Same, but a lot of writers tend to not find their groove for a bit. Do that with Avatar the Last Airbender and it looks like trash. 

If I didn't have Rick & Morty referencing it and like two friends recommending it I wouldn't think this show was worth the time this far in. It gives that "there must be something there" bait. 

 I actually enjoyed the beginning/opening for avatar with how not serious the protagonist/aang was about it tbh 

It's good for being setting porn, but the character writing was garbage until they became more nuanced further in. 

The first argument between Katara and Sokka is straight awful. I feel like when I introduce the show that I have to apologize for it's beginnings.

 That's exactly how you get me to watch a movie. It unfortunately worked with a Serbian film

I recommend mixing some drinks before watching it. It's just a shame that you can't see it in theaters, or rather, that you can't see others seeing it in theaters. 

I've never seen the live action. I'm curious just how bad it is
