He's probably genuinely interested in your opinion. That's just his way of cloaking a sincere compliment in sarcasm so the trolls don't jack your convo till it's pointless. We all do it. We come at the point sideways and bait the trolls with a whack of 'reverse psychology' and meme play till the convo turns around to where we want it to be. Then we pat the trolls on the head and tell them they win and how badass they are.
^ The above approach works better on self serving douchebags than asking directly from the get-go for a sincere opinion. Unfortunately, it's habit-forming, and becomes our default way of dealing, even when the person we're asking for an opinion is not a douchebag.
