I was at school. We were watching the towers fall and the buildings burn and watched people fall on the T.V's. One kid was heartbroken because his dad worked in the first building. He was on the floor sobbing. People were calling to call their family.
I was about nine, when this happened. I agree with what Damien said. It wasnt that traumatic. It was like watching a movie.

I was shopping with my infant son and the news report came over the speakers in the mall that would normally have been playing elevator music.
I was truly afraid for the first time in forever.
I honestly thought that the coming months might bring a war to our side of the pond. No foreign country has been that ballsy since Pearl Harbour. I didn't have all the details, so I thought it might be the Chinese or the Russians coming to invade us.
I cut my shopping trip short and ran home to catch the rest of the news reports to find out more of what was going on.

I was also an adult (29 yo) and was able to consider the broader implications of such an act.
Again, no foreign power is that ballsy bc no foreign power (besides the Chinese and **maybe the Russians) have the war machines to back up a threat like that, or to deal with the consequences of attacking Murrica The Badass.
Call me crazy, but I still buy into the conspiracy theories about 911 being an inside job, bc they make more sense than the story the Bush Administration and their Faux News propaganda machine fed us for so long.

I was thinking that almost immediately after it happened as a kid while everyone else was all "AHHH OH GOD THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE WILL BE NEEEXT!". It was weird to see everyone around me being affected by the tragedy while I sat there confused about how I wasn't caring about it from having no personal ties with the place. No one took me seriously about it until that documentary came out, and it was crazy awkward to wait for people to get over it and have to attend moment of silences for it.
It was an odd time, especially once my folks were briefly offended by how much I didn't respond to it.
