Haart.
I withdrew from medical school into the first year. This is going to be a pretty frank note so I hope you all would tread lightly.
It's a family affair. My cousin is an orthopedic surgeon and we would talk shop about gross anatomy. Over thanksgiving he gave me some books, too, as a nice gesture. I've always looked up to that guy.
More to the point, I pretty much regret my decision every day. Career outlook is still uncertain. I wanted to be a doctor for a long time and everything I did was toward that goal. Medical school is damned hard, but I carry regret. Medicine is a calling. It's interesting even. It garners you respect.
So, I wonder Haart, if you would share perhaps some of the more abysmal parts of doctoring. Would you share something that would point me towards peace with my decision. I suppose anyone else who has any real inkling about medicine, chime in. pax .
