So it's either the whole story or nothing? Can't I just talk about the incident (which was relevant to the conversation about "being cut" experiences) without going into all the details that led to it for your own curiosity?

Somebody stabbed him. A newsworthy event, depending on how famous a fighter he is and what kind of whuppin he wreaked on his assailant afterward.
