Strange Sensation

Tonight I had just walked inside a walmart to get some food for work, when I came out I looked around and saw fields of crops next to small patches of forests. Typical for the area I live in but for some reason it struck me in such a weird way. When I see odd landscapes I start getting uneasy, because most of the time I'm in a dream or on the off chance I'm under the influence of something. But, I'm not in this instance. Everything and the setting I've been around for a couple months seems foreign and fake. Because it mimics that same feeling I get in dreams, im on edge thinking something insane is going to happen. Nothing feels real, no where feels safe and everything feels new.

I feels like I've died and am in some monotonous afterlife or I just stumbled across the fucking twilight zone on my way out of Walmart.

Can you relate? And if you have any other unnamed or odd sensations feel free to share

"I always get strange sensations as a result of being inside of a Walmart."

And to think it wasnt even their weird am hours. Maybe that south park episode was onto something

I have similar sensations, of which I think are relatable to yours.  When I am outside during very sunny days and I stand still for a moment, I just listen to the world happening, feeling the flow of the surrounding world's activity and I feel myself melt into it.  It's similar to dream, but reaches far deeper.  In a dream, where for the most part we are personally (but maybe unconsciously) the source of the perceived activity, there's a funny sense of knowing like "of course this is exactly the way it should be expected be".  That kind of thing happens all the time in similar moments: outside at night while most of the world seems to be asleep, bright and crisp winter days, during thunder storms, etc.  You find the environment and yourself suddenly in sync/synergy.

I'm more curious as to why you're getting such sensations. You were travelling. Has the contrast of what you experienced from the "norm" of your everyday life affected you? Is this something that you experienced before you traveled?

I dont believe this feeling came up due to my traveling experience. I get a more mild version of it when I move to new areas, like when we stayed up in illnois but it fades within a few days. It's stronger now and for no apparent reason. I feels like im in a dream and not in a good way

I know those moments and I enjoy those when I catch them. This makes me feel out of sync with my environment, everything feels so plastic and fake. People don't seem like people in an eerily unsettling way.

Hehe, tbh this makes it sound like we are in reverse symmetry: this phenomena links me up but detaches you, I am normally unsynced and detached, you seem to manage a more natural flow outside those moments.

The juxtaposition of artificial (Wal-mart) and natural (fields) may serve as a strong enough contrast for the separation to appear more significant.

I've felt something like that, where others feel...fake?

Their movements seem stiff and unnatural and it feels like I'm constantly waiting for something bad to happen. Everything feels like its not real and dreamlike and interactions with others feels like automatons waiting for you to feed them answers -a sort of disconnection from your own body.

Other times I feel like "I've dreamt this scene before" and I feel like I've become out of sync with time. Its something I've experienced since I was a child(and an over active imagination had me convinced I had powers, add that with seeing things no one else could- thought I was magic). I find its triggered by stress or frustration that I'm doing the same thing day after day. The chilling realization that I'm doing this to myself and its no one else's fault because I can up at any time leave and go somewhere new, where no one knows who I am and start over because I don't owe anyone anything but am unable- or rather I am unwilling to do so.

How sad for you.

When I see a landscape changing bc the seasons are changing, or bc somebody planted a crop that wasn't there last year, I usually find the experience pleasant. It's a happy surprise for me.

I can't relate at all.
