Almost all the women I've been involved with had a rape kink and wanted to rape play(?) at some point. To me, it's just rougher sex, since I know they want it. It's play-pretend, and sure I enjoy it, but it's not a rape kink in my mind. I really enjoy dominating but knowing the woman is thrilled by the experience gives me added enjoyment a rapist wouldn't have. Hate sex is probably closer to that mental state than rape roleplay. With hate sex I care less about the woman's enjoyment and even the act itself, and it's closer to regaining a sense of lost control or venting anger or frustration.

It's typically a mix of rough sex, fetishizing the idea of a loss of control, and sometimes the added element of mysterious partner sex with that label slapped onto it for most people who have it. From it being a fantasy in their head, there is still a feeling of subconscious control over what's going on. It's one of the ones that tends to be a roleplay kink. For those where it's a legit rape fetish, like if they go out to dangerous neighborhoods looking to be sexually assaulted, that's something else.

As a roleplay kink it's harmless enough, but as a legitimate kink that's kind of frightening.

Why do you think people have this kink?
It's a way to legitimize the desire for a loss of control, to be dominated, without it having to be a voluntary surrender of it as if it were some sort of battle. It lets them believe that they are still, on some level, in control despite being ravaged.
For those with the real thing who'd act on it... some perverse form of rampant nymphomania with emotionally masochistic undertones, or perhaps some PTSD type trying to recreate a past harm to overcome their blindness of it, coping with the pain by fetishizing it?
