Sociopath? Gimmick? Sociopath pretending to be a sociopath gimmick?
He's a genius whatever he is.
Listen to his "You Made It Weird" interview with Pete Holmes. It's kind of an act and kind of genuine. He has stated that he cultivated the character as cocky and confident ("if they're not laughing, it's not that I'm not funny, they just have shitty senses of humor") from around the beginning, and it kind of generated its own genuine cockiness. He sounds like a decent guy in every respect, really. He's been on the Todd Glass show podcast a few times, able to break the character a bit and get silly. He does opine a little that his sillier jokes he comes up with aren't really suitable for his act, and tends to kind of let others work with them, since it's about the funny to him, not the aggrandizement, but still concerned for the image his act kind of demands.
I'm a stand-up comedy addict, so... You've kinda wandered into one of my areas of interest.
