A thread for tips, tricks, gear, stories, scenarios related to survival in difficult conditions (extreme nature, war, zombie apocalypse, etc).

At first I wanted to link a couple of videos in a reply to Systematic, but since this topic has more fans around, why not make a thread just for it.

I hope for it all the time. I have a habit of going through abandoned buildings, exploring because of my fondness towards the whole anarchy/apocalypse concept. I've bought thousands of dollars in gear. In everything from ballistic vest, water purifying tablets, combat bandages, cold weather tarps, headlamps, backpacks and even bought an AR-15 I personally built by buying each internal piece separately(so it would be at it's best performance with little maintenance). I rooted for ebola and get so excited when I hear stories about national tension rising. Links to some gear I bought years ago, I haven't added to the collection since.

In a survival my country would probably fall really fast. We do not have guns like for civillians, only military and police.

We would probably use melee weapons to defend ourselfs but I think at least here only military and the druglords as by that I mean the criminal factions, would survive because they have shit loads of weapons.

But If I had the money I would make a bunker underneath earth. Try to research and buy food to last at least 5 years. And I would make it thick enough to be radiation free. I would have to bring someone along with me because if you stay away from people for too long you can go crazy even being a sociopath or a loner. That would be made if you go insane and you would probably do something that would harm yourself or your bunker.

Would do it near the mountains to avoid Tsunamis as well, because I think the water could flood inside the bunker.

Know how to make and keep fire... never stop breathing.  All plans for survival start and rest with these two principles.

Yeah. Fire and breathing are essential. Getting water and food is also top priority.

bic lighter with wax paper and steel wool, magnesium with flint as backup, water bottle and filter, light sleeping bag with shelter tarp, and ground pad lots of candy bars, rifle with ammo, compass, large trash bag for raincoat, extra socks and jacket. All in lightweight backpack

spent many cold nights out with this system so i know it works.

It's good to know what's edible out in the wild. Where you can get water when there is no direct source. How to build shelter. How to hunt. Navigation is important so a compass is good to have but you can use the sky if you don't have one. Knowing how to hide yourself if necessary (camouflage), and how to get someone off your trail if being tracked. A good knife is necessity. I'd say have a source of light, but really you should learn to get around in the dark without it. Having a decent dog with you would be good for many reasons. They hear and smell what you can't. Are loyal and protective, and they have instincts geared for life in the wild that have not been overridden by domestic conditioning. That's all I can think of atm.
