The kid may make me a Belieber again... (SkepticalCat face) ... maybe...

Conservatives attempted to bribe Justin Bieber into performing for them at a Republican event during their national convention in Cleveland. It turns out that Justin wasn’t enough of a “Belieber” in Republican politics, though, because he ended up handing them a humiliating defeat.

The details of this are incredible. Bieber was promised a $5 million payday for the show, which would be paid up front. ALL of the production costs would be covered for him as well. It was essentially $5 million in free money for a single night.

This would have been the biggest single payday ever for Bieber, or for most other performers for that matter. The cost was going to be funded totally by “Republican donors,” which means anyone from China to the Koch Brothers.

How much money does he have already?

Not sure if this source is reliable but $5million is 7-10% of his annual income according to this:

I could be persuaded to do a lot of things for that much money.

I wouldn't sell a loathsome political party to the masses for that.

But that's just me.

It often surprises me when wealthy celebrities behave with integrity.

I like that in a person.

But could he? Being 7-10% of his income, with that much money already to blow on whatever he wants, it's likely a lot easier for him to turn something like that down when compared to us poorer folk.

It'd mean more if it came from someone who didn't already possess wealth.

facepalm

People who are starving but take the hard road for their integrity get called bums whores and pedos, asshole.

How soon they forget...

The Koch bros.  synonymous with big oil and the end of democracy. Good for Justin Bieber - 4 words I never thought I would type.

I meant that him turning down five million is probably more like us turning down a few thousands.

That also would have been suicidal for his PR to accept that gig.

Has Bieber turned around and performed for the Democrats or other party?  If so, then we can benchmark the integrity by the money he received there.  There's little contrast available in this one incident.

It would seem the Bieb is a wee bit stronger than you...
