Do any of you here play WoW? if yes, do you have any level 100 characters? How many?
I did play it, have been since the game first came out (and it's prior beta), but I take a lot of breaks. I mostly rejoin when expansions come out, but despite the currently surfacing itch to play I can't from my gaming computer still being out of commission.
For 100s, I have two, an Undead Warlock and a Orc Hunter. I have a few others close to it, but I got bored of doing the same campaign over and over (Orc Death Knight and Troll Monk are the two I remember offhand). I also enjoyed running around as a Blood Elf Warrior simply from the thematic idea of draining mana making him pissed off.
What realm do you normally play on the most? Is it on a US or Oceanic server?
Silvermoon, US server. I used to play with a different forum's guild around a decade ago, and once that fell apart I didn't leave. I occasionally try to drag friends of mine to play with me there as well. I wish it were a PVP server, but the original guild I was playing with didn't like that idea so I mostly just run around with my tag on taking down towns to try to get Alliance attention. Some of the best fun I've had's been with fighting against a single Alliance character on the world map like a nuisance, not letting their tag go away unless they outright wait it out as a corpse. I might not mind changing servers or running a new character on one however.
My ex-fiance might still play on that server too. That's weird to think about.
Which type of character do you prefer to play the most? And, which faction do you prefer - Horde or Alliance?
Horde Undead Warlock. It fits my playstyle more than the other class race combos by far.
What do you do most in the game. Are you more of a PVE or PVP player?
I prefer PVP from players being less predictable when paired next to AI (and it being more satisfying to know that it was a person I just took down, and the tactics that surface from team vs team combat), but otherwise enjoyed PVE as more of a meditative thing. Dungeons aren't as fun as they used to be, but I'll explore old ones with a friend of mine from time to time. There's times when my focus has been bad that I've just explored their maps for the sake of sightseeing and remembering the past (as well as encountering others doing the same, either to fight/duel with or chat about times past... if not stalk them and do silly things while on their trail).
There's apparently some pirate vanilla WoW servers available on the internet that play only up to level 60 with the old talent system. I've been tempted to give that a go for nostalgia's sake.
I've heard that some celebrities have played World of Warcraft. Do you know which celebrities still play the game?
No idea, but I know from the past there was Robin Williams and Felicia Day.
A quick google search yields these names:
Chuck Norris
Dave Chappelle
Elijah Wood
Jimmy Fallon
Jimmy Kimmel
Mila Kunis,
Mr T (Night Elf Mohawk)
Natalie Portman
Vin Diesel
William Shatner
Cameron Diaz
Ozzy Osbourne
Ben Affleck
James Cameron
Patton Oswalt
Verne Troyer (if he played a gnome, that'd be amazing)
Hulk Hogan
Trey Parker
Matt Stone
Jessica Simpson
Macaulay Culkin
Kanye West
Kristian Nairn (HODOR!)
Jens Pulver (A UFC fighter)
Sam Raimi
Brandon Routh
Dominic Monaghan
And tons of others, apparently.
What do you think of the new patch and upcoming expansion. Are you looking forward to it?
It's more of an obligation. I started from the beginning and I want to see where they eventually end it, still playing the same character I began with as my main.
The new expansion (Legion) is coming out at the end of August, so I've started playing WoW again. I personally like some of the changes they've made in the latest patch.
The direction they're taking things is great for PVP, it's great for balancing, but I dislike three things:
They removed the creative range. I used to focus an abnormal amount of time on creative talent trees to make things that fought less predictably with odd buff combinations.
WARLOCKS CAN'T RUN AND CAST SPELLS ANYMORE! That was so fun, it made the game feel like a health bar version of laser tag or something. Nowadays you can do it for like... eight seconds every two minutes or something lame like that. Oh well, I guess I can still do portal teleports and other crazy things.
Dungeons aren't as fun anymore. They've streamlined them too far.
I do still love the added feature of costume functionality they'd added to the game (I get to wear clothes you can't even get anymore), and I like how mobile pvp feels compared to the olden days of stationary chain casting being the norm. They've made some good changes among the bad.
What sorts of changes do you see as noteworthy for the functionality of it?
I was thinking it might be fun if a group of us could get together ingame and do some leveling (if we were to create a new character each) and/or dungeons and battlegrounds together (if you already have a level 100). I like world PVP the most, especially fighting other guilds and raiding cities of the opposing faction. I don't think many people do world PVP much anymore. It would be fun to get back into it.
I'm up for it when my computer's working again.
World PVP is still a thing if you forcibly make it into one. They will respond to you if you start raiding villages and main cities. A clever rogue for instance can sneak around and pick people off in the most unexpected of places.
I was thinking that if we got enough people we get even get an arena team organised. 5 v 5 could be interesting or even 3 v 3.
Team balance is a little too required these days to win in battlegrounds. If we plan around that in advance it could be great.
Even if we didn't end up doing arena, I was hoping I could get enough people together to form a dungeon group at least, which would require myself and 4 other people.
It'd be more fun than queueing anyway, but dungeons still largely disappoint me now.
Anyone interested?
Problems may arise with our different time zones, but I'm sure we could figure something out.
Again, once the computer's working I might take you up on that. If no one feels like buying expansions or paying monthly fees, the vanilla servers likely don't cost anything~
