Would it matter if not able to recall the previous life? 

It matters because even though you wouldn't remember previous lives you'd still be able to enjoy the pleasures of living.

There is no afterlife and we don't need one.  There is only one life, it dwells in the eternal present, and there is, no matter what, only living.  Afterlife seems to imply that whatever happens subsequent to death isn't life.  But if you're still alive, there is no "after" and it's still "living".

I sincerely hope there isn't another life of any sort after this one personally. 

This is similar to the nagging existential voice in my head that frets over this kind of thing.  It prods me with the certainty that no matter what's next it will feel as real as this, memory or awareness or not.  There really is no way out and whatever is coming will be impenetrable to understanding until one finds themselves in the thick of it.

I'm scared I might be stuck in a loop and that's where the dejavu is coming from.

If you look for the answer to this, you'll eventually find how there is an afterlife, and if you keep researching it, you'll also find that it's not good for us without Christ.
