It is in the US.
Wait staff only make $1.50 to $2/ hour there.
Their daily pay is about the same as the cost of the meal they're serving.
Just the other day i read about a waitress in France(i think) that got more money then a software engineer thanks to her hard work.
i wouldn't tip other waitresses, but her i would of, she deserved it.
I usually tip, very little, when i am not alone. Sometimes i forget thought.
She took time to learn each customer and what they want and don't want, take notes, make suggestions, notice when someone of a customer group is missing, or some other shit like that. Then she would also get feedback on the food and give it to the boss.
Then the boss would give her more money. Especially when she seemingly casually says that she might go work elsewhere.
I don't have a problem with it.
You do and you do it yourself. And now just happens to be a time i point it out.
That's indeed called hypocrisy. What is wrong with your brain? Do you need a jolt of electricity to get the nerves going again? Did they catch web or something? Maybe you should use some acid to remove the rust from your brain's nerves.
I'm sure that what restaurant owners pay their staff varies widely in other countries.
But if some laissez faire capitalist wage law gives an employer more freedom than the the people who make their business(es) work, I have a problem with that.
People deserve a living wage for their labour. Restaurants are not an essential service like healthcare. They're a privilege. And people should pay for their privileges.
If people don't want to pay their servers, they can eat fast food or takeout. Or they can stay home and cook.
