- Did you choose your avatar or display image (whatever you prefer to call it) simply because you liked the picture or because it represents you in some way? Why did you choose it?
1. It is by sakimichan who is a good artist.
2. It looks good cropped.
3. It does represent I am female.
4. It has a human looking aspect even though it is art.
- When you look at another forum member's avatar does it give you a certain impression of them? If yes, what impression do you get? (Mention a member's username and tell us what you think of their display image/avatar)
Let me think... Sometimes I do feel differently about people when they change their avatars. I know before cad had like a girl type avatar with a like emperor hat. I thought he was prideful and he probably is a bit prideful. I see he has a dog avatar now and I see him as more caring. I should mention I do not think that is the only playing factor. I have seen many studies backing up the fact that usernames and avatar pics will influence the person. It is like the person takes on that persona and it amplifies those characteristics. If the same person takes the username sunshine on one site and lord on another site. It has been proven the person will act more happy and warm with the username sunshine. In the site with he username lord the person will act more prideful. I could try to find the studies if anyone is interested.
So yeah avatars and usernames influence others perception and self perception.
