China recently overtook the US as the worlds number 1 and largest economy. ( Population and economics are two different things )

The us sells bonds to whoever wants to buy it. Chinese peopl ehave a lot of free money, and no faith in their own economy, so they invest in other's. China buying our debt isn't a sign that China owns us, it's a sign that China has a lot of faith in putting their money in the American government as a form of investment.

So less than 1/2 what the US owes. Also idk how this factors in, but pretty confident the US owes China literally trillions.
