It seems to me like all the people against moderating this are making valid points as to why IP logging is a non issue.  All the people for moderating it simply seem to be alluding to some vague discomfort they have with it, without much evidence for why it's a problem.  Since when do we care what makes people comfortable?

You can't view a persons files over his IP alone, that's retarded.

His best bet would be inferring who it is based on the time stamp next to the IP alongside the posted time on topic posts, if this sort of thing's the case.

yes, tihs entire debate is irellavant. anyone can log ips if they want. your ip is the name computers see you as, you can mask it, but you cannot hope to use the internet without servers seeing an ip address.

there is no site on the internet where your ip is safe.

if we remove all external links and host all our own images that would be a start

that's what kiwifarms does, any image that is uploaded, KF downloads teh image onto their own servers, and replaces the link with a link to the newly copied image. this stops images from being hosted on other servers, and stops the iploggers.

as for links... stopping links from being posted here i think is a bad idea

If that is marking your ip in red I think you are using tor. If that is marking my ip well I am using tor.
