no, they like to see on your resume that you could handle all four years of bs, its a sign of strength and determination. if you cop out, they hire someone who didnt. (as someone who has hired people before, i can honestly tell you when i see GED, i think, not them, they've been quitting since before they could even work)
someone i knew dropped out with a shit gpa and did cocaine for 2 years, then got a near perfect ged exam score, he came out looking like a better college applicant than i did. he wasn't even the type to study. you can do it, but you will miss out on social experience and possibly friends that will affect the next 10 years of your life.
I'm not contemplating this because I want to drop out, but because I want to get on with college. I talked to a college rep and they said that they did not allow anyone without a diploma or a GED to apply. Since dual enrollment is rather restricted, the rep suggested that I get a GED if I want to get done with high school sooner. To be honest, I'm bored of high school. It does not offer a challenge and seems more like a waste of time to me. I could get my associates degree in the time that it would take to finish high school. Social interaction does not matter much to me as I have already moved out of the high school that I had stayed in for a year. I would have to start all over regardless.
That people that have taken GED's had wished they'd finish highschool. Highschool is teaching you to tolerate (somewhat) those around you. Make friends or what ever and if you really don't know about your living situation you should talk to your counselor about that, you're able to test into classes from what I've heard.
What a fucking joke, you're not taking the most difficult and rewarding HS courses yet you still manage to complain that it's TOO EASY?!?
Take all the valuable ap and ib courses (many ib courses give you college credit) and then come back to this thread. That literally achieves all your desired outcomes, harder more challenging schooling, an earlier degree and if you get a good grade in these courses a higher chance of getting into a target school.
