An interesting finding: Schizophrenics respond well to oxytocin when it's administered with other anti-psychotics in the right doses.

The studies I read a few years ago showed that oxytocin had no effect on pwAsPD. The hypothesis at that time was that smthg was glitchy in the participants' uptake process. Likely smthg with the receptors and not the neurochemistry balance. However, research at that time was brand new and testing was limited.

There may be more current studies on pwAsPD and oxytocin available now.

Increased levels of dopamine in the brain is thought to contribute to psychosis. However, dopamine does not cross the blood-brain barrier and so taking it would not cause psychosis. Taking drugs that act as dopamine agonists or reuptake inhibotors, on the other hand, can do this.

Drugs that increase serotonin in the brain have the ability to cause seizures and death. This can happen with serotonin reuptake inhibitor overdose.

Oxytocin administration is still in its early clinical trial phases, but neither humans nor animal subjects have shown adverse effects to high doses of this neuropeptide.

This is interesting. The brain chemical balance is delicate.  I'm on concerta or teva methylphenidate. I need to contact my doctor if I hear voices of think life isn't real. 

Men and boys who take Concerta could experience painful erections that last several hours. Lol this is funny.
