Well... A real apology is when the person does care how the other person feels not that they want to earn back lost status. It is not saying they will do anything for forgiveness. It would not just be that they want the person to give them to right to forget their guilt. In wanting real forgiveness the person must want to improve the future and the situation for all members and especially the one they did wrong.
And real forgiveness is not saying they suffered enough to earn back status. It is not deeming they did enough to earn status. It can be a few things... It is having had enough time to shake of the negative emotions or losses that came. It can be seeing and knowing that the one who did wrong is willing to do better and be more considerate more and improve (This does not mean earning back favor. It means they will try to be better to prevent it from reoccurring).

True. It is not wanting real forgiveness to want to be relieved of the burden of guilt. It is selfish desire for forgiveness.
True. It is not actually forgiving to see someone suffered enough punishment to earn back their status.
