I love dolphins. They are truly lovely and probably smarter than most of us. I enjoy the myths of their 'missing link' status so much that one of my anthro profs is thoroughly embarrassed for me :&

Tryp has an exquisite mind, and abilities that could be likened to these beautiful fallen angels. But here he is. Stuck in a medium that doesn't support him, drunk off his ass and falling off his chair.

Not that I can really blame somebody I consider better than I am for getting dragged through similar shit circumstances to mine. It's more a lost companion in arms sort of feeling than anything too finger-pointy.

Dolphins are evil. Dolphin males starve dolphin females until they give them sex. They plot out who they wanna rape and starve. Dolphins are the scariest. I would rather be with a shark than a dolphin. I don't want to me starved and raped.

I'm finding the prostitution bit difficult to believe. Our oceans are way too big for marine animals to be that desperate for food. It's possible they may engage in some kind of mating game where gifts are exchanged for sex. I'm extremely skeptical about how much coercion/force is used, tho. Even gravity is different under the ocean.

Some males of all species commit infanticide to sleaze up to females for sex. Humans do it too. Why do you think the standard SC "Whos yo baby daddy" rhetoric still gets a reaction out of people?

I can see where the confusion happened. The research team compared dolphins' social structure to that of chimps, and the statement was interpreted (by the journalists) as a behavioural comparison. Big difference between chimp pecking orders and dolphin family groups.

They murder porpoises for fun, rape each other (male and female are victimized), commit infanticide to convince a female to reproduce again or because of lack of resrouces, prostitute themselves, and rape other animals.
