Is sarcasm not obvious around here anymore? There was a time when people used ~ after sentences. Maybe that should make a reappearance for clarity.

There is always some ugly truth that is lurking behind our sarcasm. It is the the winky face after the insult that protects us from having to pay the full consequences of our words.
I rather like sarcasm here, and the winky face or tilde does kill the impact of it (unless it's done purposefully as another form of sarcasm, either for the sake of either irony or insulting the other's intelligence).
When the sarcasm is blatantly missed and others see it, it adds an extra punchline to it.
