Cadaver has accused me of posting links and not making a specific point. My point is this: The general public will not willingly invest its money into imperialistic programs. So the government uses taxation and "social programs" (like the War on Drugs) to accumulate money for imperialistic pursuits.
In US prison a large amount of inmates work. Corporations like this cause they get work done very cheap.
The war on drugs is a waste of money, because it's a war that cannot be won. It's a waste for the tax payer.
Is it profitable for the government ?
Without the war on drugs, there would be less crime, and less reason for tax hikes. Millions of people pay tax, and the amount spent to arrest, sentence and incarcerate a criminal is covered. If it even came close to not being enough to enforce the rules, the tax would have to increase to maintain order.
Those guys doing time for selling drugs are often charged with manslaughter. Not only does the citizen cover their cost, but the prisoner doing time generates more money by working for a pack of smokes and small change, while the industry who utilizes the incarcerated gets taxed for that too.
Drug possession alone is enough in the US. In the States there are people doing years over a gram of sweet peaceful weed.

I'm up for 911. I brought it up many times, but this place isn't ready.
