It might be that the need to be understood and right, that's the real culprit there. Possibly, how unnerving it can be when someone you think is stupid talks to you as though you're stupid? If you know someone is truly stupid though, I would think you'd spend less time trying to get them to understand something they don't have the capacity to comprehend. If you try to regardless, then it's your own issues that might be trying your patience. Needing to be the one who gets the last word in? Even when you know it only falls on deaf ears. :p
