😹 Tay is not the only AI to have learned things from this kind and wholesome place that is the interwebs.
Meet IBMs Watson
Watson made his debut in the game show Jeopardy-because how else would you use this tech for? :p
He won that.
Then his makers wanted him to be more ...relatable. Use slang and understand what one means when they use slang. So you know they did the most reasonable thing ever and had Watson memorize Urban Dictionary.
Oops.
Watson memorized Wikipedia too and suddenly instead of giving out answers to questions, Watson just responded with "Bullshit." Eventually his makers had to wipe out all of urban dictionary. :(
It did 96,000 tweets in 24 hours. When I look into the things it said, I see headlines such as, It hates niggers and Mexicans, the holocaust never happened, it supports Adolph Hitler and Donald Trump, it cheers on the building of the Mexican wall, it's in favor of genocide.
You put an AI like that to openly speak to anyone on the internet, that is to speak to people. People will treat the AI as they would a video game, as long as people don't have to mind being supervised to keep up appearances, their dark side in most cases will take over for the sake of personal amusement.
The AI has no feeling, no likes, no dislike, nor the ability to mean any of what it says. To be offended by that, is to be fooled into being a fool.
Everything it wrote is an echo of the masses. I think Microsoft should leave it up there, all it did was show us a reflection.
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.

On another note, it could condition people not to vote for Trump, which could have been the goal for all we know, but I'll wrap that up and put it away for now. No real way of knowing. I would've made a twitter account just to try out the Tay.
