The fact that your asking implies some insecurity.

I'm gonna have to stop you right here (read: didn't read the whole post because this sentence told me all i needed to know)...

what evidence do you have for this being a sign im insecure, as opposed to just curious? it could be possible my intelligence is verified constantly in real life and i'm just wondering how the way people view me differs here and want to compare. what you said is not the only possibility. so what are you basing my insecurity on?

The fact that your asking implies some insecurity. someone who was intelligent would never need to be reassured because they would receive prof of there intelligence on a daily basis. even under confidant people who are intelligent have some reassurances because of there smarts and things they do so they could get confirmation. only a truly dumb and immature person would rely on there friends for prof. that is because stupid people gather people as weak or weaker for comfort are security and you use them to reassure yourself, you are indeed smart and, "prove" it too anyone who might question you. unfortunately we are in the real world felling like you are smart because people baby you and tell you, "you are smart" dose not make you any better.
