Systematic stated: source post

I think it'd be hilariously awkward at most of the people here not meeting their online personas in real life, as well as not being nearly as argumentative

Who do you think would fall short? Give us some names. You said something similar about me once, yet the (only?) 3 people you've met from here even exceeded expectations. How do you judge this stuff?

"Having met me in person, would you say that I lived up to the hype? "

With you, crow and trypt you all over exceeded your personalities. As in, your quirks that didnt telegraph online went along with how you were presented here to make the personality that much more defined. You were yourselves to an extreme degree and passed what I expected, which made for a priceless experience

To put it shortly:

I expected Trypt to party hard, but not that hard

I expected you to be analytical, but not that analytical

I expected Crow to have a domineering personality, but not that domineering

It's common knowledge that people dont portray their real selves on the internet, this place I imagine is definitely no exception. The 3 I met and lived with I considered to be the most genuine before I met them, which was the main reason I accepted the idea in the first place. Out of that group, they were all fairly open to me about their own flaws and didn't mask them or deflect my inquiries.

As for who all would fall short, I imagine most people rightfully here would. It takes a certain sort of person to be honest about their personal flaws over a forum that uses that same information as ammunition. They aren't wrong for concealing potentially sensitive aspects about themselves from a place like this, but there's definitely sides of people we dont get over this forum for a reason.

As for people not being nearly as argumentative, it's nothing to be a keyboard warrior. But the difference in hostility is notable different even in the skype voice chats, when the circumstance moves to something a bit more personal such as having an actual verbal debate people dont have the heart to be as rude/hostile as they are here. With the 3 I lived with for reasons I elaborated on above, they not only met the tone they typically post in, but exceeded it.

edit: and yes ed, it's a bit hard to believe the statements you put out about yourself. From my perspective, it's a person considered by others to be narcissistic, claiming to have an extraordinary amount of women, over an internet chat forum where he's revealed absolutely nothing about himself. Sorry if I smell bullshit

Maybe you just read emotion and motivation into people's written responses that the authors never intended.

I'm a fluffybunny gigglepot on skype. I always sang and laughed at the convos. I have the type of voice that can cuss like a truck driver and still allow me to be perceived as cute and warm in a weird kinda way.

In print people claim to perceive me as histrionic and w/e else. Somebody asked me last week if I 'rage quit' the forum. lol

I've never 'rage quit' anything on the internet in my life.

Even if I did starkly misinterpret people's personalities after years of being here, it doesnt rule out the common fact that people lie about themselves over the internet far more than they do in person.

I'm not concerned with you specifically, this is people in general

There's a fine line between actual perceptions and troll shots taken to hit soft spots.

"I've never 'rage quit' anything on the internet in my life."

Looks like a direct hit

You just proved my point, Sys. I don't have 'soft spots' when I'm on a forum.

Responding =/= reacting.

I might as well be reading a storybook for all the impact these characters have on my life.

k

"Responding =/= reacting."

You do realize that the rage quit comment was likely a troll shot thrown at you purposely to antagonize/upset you and just now you took it as someone's actual perception of yourself.

I said claim.

"In print people claim to perceive me as..."

I don't take anything here literally or personally, even when I'm arguing as if I do.

When we're here on SC, we're all characters in an improv comedy sketch and nothing more.
