I know a similar story. The lesson was the same, tho.
Thanks, Crick'.
There was a tiger. Strong and fast but with no skill. It was going to starve, but a cat took pity on it. The cat taught the tiger its agility.
It took time but the tiger became agile, with it's speed and power it took down many deer. Agility made the tiger formidable.
The cat smiled up at it's pupil, the tiger smiled back.
Then the tiger tried to bite and kill the cat.
It chased the cat along way. Past the river and over the hill...but the cat ran up a tree.
Because the cat had wisdom and kept that secret from the tiger.
Clever kitty. Good moral.
Here's one I used to tell my ex husband when we first met:
A frog sitting near the river bank when a scorpion approached.
"I need to cross the river," said the scorpion. "Will you please carry me on your back to the other side?"
"Why would I do such a thing?" asked the frog. "You will just sting me as I carry you."
"Why would I sting you?" the scorpion asked in reply. "If I did so, I would be drown."
The frog considered this and thought it reasonable. So he allowed the scorpion to climb up on his back and began to swim across the river.
About midway through the water, the frog felt a pain on his back.
"What have you done?" the frog cried. "Now we will both die."
"I can't help it," answered the scorpion as their two bodies sank in to the water's depths. "It is my nature."
