Stop saying you can't draw. That's really really good. I like it.
Been playing a lot of MIrror's Edge lately, and the runners are cool imo, so I doodled this picture of a concept one. Came out kinda shit but I figure I'll make a thread and just update when I feel like a can actually draw. Also for what it's worth it should be against the Geneva Conventions to call those fuckers 'erasable pens'. They are as erasable as regular pen.
I decided that I wanted to sketch what a runner might look like in the winter time, although the video game Mirror's edge takes place in warm weather. I'll start at the top and work downward for the details.
His hat is like a beanie except I can't draw. The odd bulge by his ear is because he's wearing a small communication device under the hat.
He's wearing a hoodie, and over that he has the ammo pouch thingies that all the male runners wore in the video game. Then of course he also has the classic runner bag slung over the shoulder. Under the hoodie sleeves he has shin guards on the forearms, depicting those was the only real reason to draw his sleeves rolled up. Then he also has gloves, though unlike Faith Connors (game protagonist) His gloves have full fingers.
He's carrying a gun. In the video game Faith avoids conflict if possible and the use of firearms was almost never recommended; perhaps the devs were trying to hide the fact that once you steal any weapon other than the pistol the combat feels comically easy, enemies that before were untouchable go down near instantly. In the video game, the machine pistol was the heaviest-hitting weapon you could run/do parkour with, so I picked that as our runner's weapon.
His pants are nearly identical to those worn bye all the runners in the game, except they lack the cargo-pants pocket on one leg; in it's place is a small holster thingy for the machine pistol.
Boots aren't feasible for a runner. So instead, he's wearing the standard runner shoes that the characters in the video game had. Over said shoes he's wearing these:
They preserve a little heat/keep away any snow. Shin guards jury rigged with duct tape complete the package.
All in all, this didn't turn out super great. I put down a lot of lines I later wanted to get rid of, but the eraser turns out to do little more than smudge the ink, further ruining the picture. Maybe at some point I'll get myself to do another drawing when I feel like it. Regardless, criticism from yall is more than welcome as usual. Also if any of you guys have a character concept you wanna post, doesn't matter where the character is from, feel free.
The folds/stretch marks in the clothing came out well enough. Ironically, the accidental ink smudges actually do well to simulate occlusion that would naturally occur down there, were the sun don't shine. Things I don't like in particular include the gun which I put 0 effort into and doesn't resemble it's ingame counterpart at all. Also the bag and its strap look awful, the ink smudges make it look like it's melting. other stuff I dislike would be the shoe cover things, the shin guards and forearm guards, and the picture.
